It seems alot of folk start off in Bitcoin as a hobby, to see whats it all about.
Well if your an IT consultant i think Bitcoin can be alot more than just a hobby. By knowing about Bitcoin (more or less), you know about SHA encryption, secure payment systems, hardware load balancing, concept of public keys and private keys and the concept of getwork.
On top of that, you can assist clients in setting up alternative payment systems for receiving payment. Which is a whole other level on top of just understanding hardware and software.
So i guess my question is, has Bitcoin helped you in your career?

That is my primary worry about reporting my earnings in BTC to the IRS. Just gotta keep extra paperwork if i get audited. There are insidious and benevolent uses for BTC but stigma will over rule that. |

I never added bitcoin to my resume, but I get a lot of hits on my linkedin, cause I am in the bitcoin group. Also from github with my bitcoin projects, i once got a serious job offer from here. Also almost in all cases the jobs would have had nothing to do with bitcoin, but they talk about my bitcoin work.

I applied to a 'online payments processing firm', no not that one. I mentioned an interest in Bitcoin. Never heard anything.
Or maybe they found out about my goat fucking conviction.

Anyone selling anything illegal has to accept some form of currency!
I am sure BTC is probably used a fraction of a precent that USD is used in illegal transactions
perhaps even illegal online transactions BTC is used not as often as USD.
Just because criminals accept it as valuable does not mean that is a flaw
every government-issued currency has that problem.

While it is THE black market currency, it has been receiving a lot of press as of late which has spun it beyond that public image in my opinion. Now it is just recognized as a valid currency. When you have people like my father asking me if I have any bitcoins you know it is starting to become a big deal.
