I bought 5 each of Gigabyte Gaming 580 8gb, Gigabyte Aorus 580 8gb, and Msi 580 Armor 8gb. The Armor cards are absolute junk and I'm sending them back. Modded one of each card and got both Giga versions up to 29mh/s stable, Msi would never go over 26mh/s but mostly stays at 24mh/s and the mod and/or changing core/clocks only makes things worse. TBH I'm thinking about sending all the cards back and waiting on Vega. If these cards had done ~30mh/s they would have almost paid for themselves by the time Vega releases. MSI Armors are going back for sure! Total garbage. Cheap construction, no backplates, just nothing good to say about them.

That's funny, I bought some of the MSI Armor RX580 8 GB as well and I am getting 30.5 Mh/s on each of them mining ETH while drawing about 105 watts/card measured from the wall, GPU-z shows 75-80W. May I ask how you modded them? I simply copied the 1:1750 strap to the 1:2000 and I am running 1125/2275 clocks with 0.900 core voltage. They work just as good as the RX480's, not any better but not really any worse either.

Whats drivers and OS are you using? No signature check problems?

No, no signature check issues at all. Windows 10 64-bit and Crimson ReLive Edition 17.4.3

I had modded the 2:1750 strap to the 2:2000. Reflashed orig vbios and redid the whole thing using 1:1750 to 1:2000, set -cvddc 900 in me .bat and the card is hashing dual at 30-31mh/s and 900+ dcr steady for about an hour now.

Yep, from what I and others have gathered so far if you have Samsung memory use the 1:xxxx timings, if you have Micron memory use the 2:xxxx settings.

Rx 570 4gb Aorus with modded bios + oc 2130 doing 30Mhs Smiley

temp ? watt usage ?

what memory type are they putting in those?

Mine's got hynix.
Temp is related with fan, 75% fan gives 50 C.
Watt usage 210 whole set, so let say 150W for gpu.

Ever tried to lower the hashrate along with power consumption and temperature?

Yes, but is does not pay off.
I've finally set 2100 - stable clock with 29.5Mhs

With such settings you are doing around 175Mhs on Eth with 900W on the wall. Nice result to me.

Gigabyte Gaming 580 is running a steady 29-30mh/s, Aorus is absolutely no different, MSI Armor I bitched about before are actually the best cards at 30-31mh/s. Red Devil's arriving tomorrow.........and I'm out of boards.

So far the MSI X170a gaming m5 has been a clusterfuck bitch trying to get to run more than 4 cards, instead of 7. Still looking for a solution :\

Of the 580's you tried, have you tried dual mining with them? Is there any difference between them? The prices here seem to differ a lot and I have no clue which 580 to pick. See https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/zoeken/?keyword=rx+580. For example the Gigabyte Radeon RX 580 GAMING 8GB is listed as €265,- while Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GB is listed as €301,95 and Asus ROG-STRIX-RX580-T8G-GAMING is listed as €341,50. That is a big difference in price... and now I have no clue which one to pick. I am leaning toward the Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GB because in the topic here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1881008.0 it is getting good results but that might be the same for the other cards too  Huh
Of the cards I've tested so far, all have been dual mining ETH+DCR. I haven't tested the Red Devil's since they don't arrive until this afternoon. Now to the big question...............which would I buy again.........whichever is the cheapest. They all perform within a mh/s or two of each other. The Giga cards are of better quality and have back plates. The MSI is cheaply made, but performs slightly higher and runs hotter. Out of all of them, the MSI rig is the only one that has randomly shutdown. Both giga rigs have been a steady 29mh/s 800+dcr without a single restart for well over 24 hours. I'd buy the Giga gaming 580 8gb over the Aorus because they are slightly smaller and a bit cheaper. I honestly don't see the Red Devil's changing that opinion, but...............ya never know til testing is over.

EDIT: Bonehead move of the day.............saw a box sitting in the corner. It is full of Red Devil cards that apparently arrived early. Now I know what I'll be testing for the next few hours LMAO.

EDIT: on the Red Dragon 580 8gb...........if you are looking for a cheap card, this might be it. Bone stock straight out of the box it does 27.8mh/s ETH + 835 dcr. My only change was to add -cvddc 900 to the start bat, resulting in gpuZ saying it max's at 122watt. BUT, there is a caveat.......not much tuning does a dam thing that I have seen so far. Modding the 2:1750 to 2:2000 doesn't seem to make much difference at all other than it becomes less stable. Messing with Trixx/afterburner results in HARD crashes. This card likes it's defaults and those defaults are not too bad for a $200usd card. If you are not into tweaking and tweaking, build a rig of these. They are fire and forget.

Thanks a lot for the information, really appreciate it. That looks nice for an out-of-the-box performance and might be something for me to get my first rigs up and running. Now only if they are available in my country  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes. Fun fact, one store has 2 in stock.. for a whopping €305,-.......... Might just be worth it to just order them at newegg and let them ship it to the EU. Even with shipping that is €400,- less for 5 cards (I need 6 but there is a 5 card limit -_-).

EDIT: is this the card you used? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131714&ignorebbr=1

Over here there's very limited stock of 470/480/570/580.

I usually like to buy cards with dual bios so I can flash them with a base bios and then adjust them with Watttool depending on the coin I mine (like my XMR bios doesn't work with it's heavy undervolt under ETH). And if I F it up, it's easy to revert to the stock bios by just flipping a switch.

Now I feel like a cow watching the train pass and I think the time to buy cards and mine is now, whatever the best deal/brand is. But I have little experience with other brands.

I currently only own Sapphire cards (Nitro+ 8Gb and 4Gb). Do you guys know what other brand does dual bios? I know XFX do...

Currently the cheapest cards I find and that are available are:

MSI RX 570 ARMOR 4G OC (~200$, MSI's 580 is 30$ more)

Or:
SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 470 Nitro OC at 195$, but it's no Nitro and for 5$ more and can get a 570

And that's it. You can find other cards, but with the limited stock they go for 260->300$ and that's just not a smart buy.

So any thoughts on that MSI 570 ARMOR 4G?

The RX 570 seems from what I saw today to be a very good and promising card. If you choose to go with this card, MSI is by far the best brand, with the best cooling system, so if hopefully for you it is not that expensive when compared to the other brands, go with this one.

I can get my hands on some 570 Nitro+ 4GB for 220$/card, I think I'll go for 6 of them. At current ETH prices my hashrate will pay for that in less than a month anyway Smiley

Hi, today I received a MSI RX 570 ARMOR OC 4GB.

It has Hynix memory and I can't get my hashrate over 22 in any way.

I'm using 17.4.3 relive driver with pixel patch

I've tried editing bios timings
  • 1:1500 to 1:2000
  • 1:1750 to 1:2000

I've also tried overclocking memory clock, but it only has a negative effect to the hashrate. GPU clock is 1268 by default.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

--edit--
I achieved 27.3 MH/s with timing 2:1500-2:2000 and Memory clock at 2000. At 2100 it got unstable.
Any ideas what else to try?

I have tried all the options. But 6x570 does not work on any board. 6x, 7x, 8x 470 work fine but 570 no. So far it looks bug problem on drivers or Patcher.

If someone really works 6x 570/580 please write a detailed configuration including driver version etc ..

5x 570 is working reliably. For now.

Hmmm, I hadn't noticed no one got a rig with 6 RX5xx working...

Makes you wonder why AMD are publishing drivers with their damn signature check even though they perfectly know that quite a lot of people use their cards for nothing else than mining *sigh*

Regardless of what people do or don't use the cards for I don't understand the signature check period.  Why limit what people can use your cards for?  I just don't see any upside to the signature check for AMD.

What are you talking about, 480s cost more now than they did before rx 500 release.

Indeed. Best case people brick their card and have to buy a new one. Grin

There's always that.  People who shouldn't also mess with the voltages and blow capacitors.  Obviously you'd need to buy a replacement card then too.  Thinking along less cynical lines though I would just expect AMD to want the widest possible pool of people buying their cards.  Plenty of people have gone the nvidia route for mining, despite the lower profitability, simply because it's basically plug and play.  Rather than trying to lock people out they could build an afterburner-style tool that allows for memory timing controls.  Have it initially disabled with the same "don't be an idiot" warning that comes with the voltage controls.

In my country, there is just 5% difference between the 480 and 580.

I've just received my Sapphire RX 570 Pulse MINI ITX card. link http://www.sapphiretech.com/productdetial.asp?pid=3548F713-062B-4A98-B584-D0D211C5308E&lang=eng

This is the smallest RX card u can get, and suprisingly has very powerful heating included VRM and RAM as well.

Doing 22,4 MH/s ETH speed without bios mod.
Temp =  52 (!!!) celsius
GPU:1000 Mhz / 850 mV
RAM: deafult 1750 Mhz  / 850mV
fan = 1044rpm (!!!)
Power target = -30%

Power consuption on wall: 153 W ( with a Ryzen 1700X. System consumes 62 - 65 W in idle), so card consuption is about 90-95W

1. make sure you have the newest bios for the mobo
2. windows 10 installed in uefi mode (msinfo32 in run and check bios type to confirm)
3. enable above 4gb decoding
4. may have to experiment with peg 0 and peg 1 gen types and the internal graphics adapter mem setting (64 instead of 32 maybe)

If you use the 1625 strap and 0150E2A3186272E16">http://doreymills.ca/cgi-bin/strapmod?555000000000000022CC1C00AD515A3EC0570E142D4A64080049C700030114207A8900A00300000 0150E2A3186272E16

to mod it and then try to get above 2000, like 2050 or 2075.. you may get higher hashrate

Hi, I really appreciate the feedback. Could you please elaborate what I should do with the link? Are these some BIOS parameters that I should edit with a HEX editor or something?

copy whatever original strap you want to mod.. like 1500, 1625, or 1750 from your bios and paste it into the link over the strap thats in the link. the output will be the modded strap and should have higher mhs. I did not make the tool
