...makes my head hurt when i try to do an apple to apple comparision with something like slushpool.
For every 1 apple you earn, slush would give you less than 0.98 apple and here you'd get 1 apple.  Cool

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

This is not what he is looking for.

Here he is going to receive his 1 apple after how many days working? This is also that we need to clarify for the really noobies (I am one of those)

EDIT:

I am saying this because I have 675 TH in antminers S9 (for me its a lot of money), I did a test with 4x at ckpool and I still did not received a penny for it. I know that some point I am going to receive, but at BTC.com pool I am receiving 0.0964532 per day....

I think CK pool can be more profitable, but I am still without knowing how.

EDIT 2:

This explanation from http://give-me-coins.com/support/faq/what-is-pplns/ is a good one for the PPLNS method.

EDIT 3 : I need more help to understand why ck-pool is better than BTC.com (talking about profitability)

I need to make something absolutely clear to you and other newbies, as I don't like people coming in without really understanding and then complaining bitterly if things don't go their way.

In the long term, the ONLY thing that matters on a pool is the efficiency of the pool and the fee - on ckpool the fee is absolutely zero, and the ckpool software and setup is the fastest most scalable software so the most efficient. HOWEVER, and you must understand this completely - a small pool like this can have good and bad luck. There is absolutely nothing I or anyone else can do to force luck in one direction or another, nor is there any way to predict luck. Luck will have more effect on your profits than anything else in actual fact - the smaller the pool, the more important luck is to profits. If you are on a PPS pool, you will earn less on average than a PPLNS or SPLNS pool, BUT you can be guaranteed you will get exactly a fixed amount at fixed intervals. With a small pool, if the pool is lucky, you can earn far far more than a PPS pool, BUT you can also earn far far less if it is unlucky. How lucky is lucky? It's possible to find a block in 10% diff meaning your profit on that block can be 10x higher than normal, but it is also possible to find a block in 1000% diff meaning your profit can be 1/10th normal for that block. On average, it averages to 100% diff - that's exactly what diff means. However there is one more variable to understand - if bitcoin diff is rising, and there is every expectation that it will continue to rise, if you score a lucky block here or on another small pool, you will be ahead profit wise in ways that you can never make up on another pool, BUT the converse is also true - if you score an unlucky block, you can never make up the lower profits. Ideally a pool should be large enough to smooth out that risk such that only fee matters, but it's extraordinarily hard to get sheep to leave their antpool and friends and make small pools large enough. How big is big enough then? Ideally about 10x larger than this pool currently is...

Good luck and keep on mining. Smiley

CK, first of all, TY for your answer, time and efforts.

In my point of view, you are the captain of this, you want this or not. So, when some dumb guys like me come here and make some writings without knowing about what they are saying, you have several options....

The way that I ve come, was only making genuine questions because, like I said, I want to be part of this, I just don't understood completely. But with your contribution, I have learned a little bit more today.

Guys, thanks for trying to explain. I get the 1 apple vs 0.98 of an apple and yes i guess i was trying to just codify the argument about payout duration differences. The bigget issue with this pay structure without a more consistant block find is that for us newbies, we are forced to choose between a pool with daily payouts (slushpool) vs one (ck) that gives the addtional 2% back but a payout that can stretch to possibly 4-5 months (now).

I’m in it to try to let the little guy make a dent in the market held by the Antpools and BTCs of the world but that is truely the biggest hurdle that this pool will have convincing many more miners to move over.

Its clear that once there is a more regular block find say a minimum of one every week or so that this argument would be moot and the little efficiency of saving the 2% starts to make a difference.

Did you guys read about the clampdown on power usage by miners in China? The new proposed regulations if they do come into force might change the balance of hashing power out of china and hopfully give pools like this a fighting chance to gain a food hold.

Lastly, @computergenie i assume that the 3rd  address with ‘genie’ is yours! How did you manage to score or create that one?

I'm hoping, for clarity sake, you realize that time span is the current length of entire 5n and not between individual payments. Also that payments compound if you continue to mine.

As for the vanity address, that's an ancient Chinese secret.

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

I was fairly sure that vanity address was enough for anyone smart to go on  Wink
Personally, I used the old command line version and did it off line.

Can you remind me how the 5n window is calculated or adjusted when the diff changes during the 5n window?

It's over simplifying it a bit, but other than a weighted score vs a "physical share", it's essentially the same principle as PPLNS.

Ok, so officially this former "sheep" has left slushpool and is now 100% behind ckpool for the long run. It's a nice feeling to finally make the switch.

Welcome aboard!

I have been on the fence for a while but recent conversations on here have swayed me. It just feels like the right thing to do from multiple standpoints. Now I just need to continue upgrading my miners once prices are a bit more reasonable on ebay/other places.

Guys, when we hit 100 diff that means that we are about to find a block in anytime. Is that correct?

We can always hit a block at any time.
100 means that the exact number of shares that is statistically likely to hit a block have been submitted. No number of shares, in a given period, is factually more/less likely to hit a block. It's merely a measure of luck weighed against a long-term average expectation.

Hitting a block under 100 means we were lucky.
Hitting a block over 100 means we were not.
