I think it was the great philosopher Homer that said "Jokes, I get jokes." Seriously Can't explain how but I do think the hopping and the drastic increase now w slow decrease some how skews the difficulty. Can't explain it but I think so. HOWEVER, w current timeframe of recent blocks I have made more here than I would over at slush. Right now I am at a satisfaction difficulty % of 98%. So I am good.

Well  Jokes can fall flat.
here are the last six blocks

"diff": 195.6 ------------  "height": 521726
"diff": 171.5 ------------  "height": 524676
"diff": 181.4 ------------  "height": 526351

"diff": 164.0 ------------  "height": 526993
"diff": 123.2 ------------  "height": 527282

add to 963.5  should be 600

average luck we would have  9 or 10 blocks vs 6 blocks

True, but you're still missing the 161.1, 133.7, and 158.9 that happened before then or the fact that the influx broke that 195.6 (ending a 46 day long block).

Granted the past 5 blocks averaging 153.58% is measurably worse luck than the prior 9 block average of 106.58%, but that doesn't change the fact that you're also not accounting for the cost factor of the last 5N over 36 days vs the ~ 365 days that it took to initially establish the 1st 5N.
I'm sure there are some, but not many, of us have an 11 month expense that is less than what we'd earn in an extra 2.3 blocks in the last 3 months at 106.58% we were at.

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

well if you came here and raised yourself to 5n during the 16k to 19.9k time period you are kinda of screwed

if you got to 5n early when coins were at 4-6k you made out.

I like the pool I will mine here for now.
I like -ck he did nice work on the T1 drivers.
I like halong T1 miners.

I would like the halong whale to started kicking some ass and pulling off a hot steak.
At least a few 50% blocks or 75% blocks would be nice.

I have been with the pool since the beginning and aim to stay here.

On all 3 of those points, we mostly agree; however, it still doesn't change the fact that "since we expanded" is, at best, misleading to even put into the conversation (I point to the phrase I've most had to type in the last decade: correlation does not show, or prove, causality).

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

no  you miss my point entirely.

my point is very simple since we went from well under 20ph to well over 100ph

the luck sucks.

from  the beginning up to  the expansion  the luck was average. as you point out 106%  is fine  especially since we get block tx rewards and low and now no fees.

I am saying  150%  is not fine.

even with block tx fees and no fees.

it is not complicated  the turning point was picked by me only because we added the hash.

Surely you see that  means not a single thing in any way other then the luck was close to normal  and now it sucks.

It is hard for me to put this into words  as I am only an okay writer.

But
1)pool got big in may of 2018
2)luck sucks since may of 2018
3)every block we hit is over 100% since may of 2018

there is no meaning or cause implied in that simple  set of 3 facts
that is all true shit not misleading in any way

Life  can do that.

Here is an example  I live in Howell NJ   it is near  New Egypt NJ   30 years  ago  a T-storm  stopped and sat on top of New Egypt NJ  only 20 miles from my town it rain 11 inches in 24 hours and the entire town flooded.  Some people  even in the 1980's  were spooked and thought it was the devils work

If it had been  1750  maybe some one  would have been killed  for being a witch.  Modern times  people said it was a freak T-storm.

So 6 blocks all over 120%  in a row are simply freaky bad luck thats all.  The luck started with  halong moving the miners here merely a coincidence .

Now  what hurts is the pool is now at the mercy of them.  They built the coin level to 10btc  and they could leave  now as I type  move all the gear to f2pool  get pps.
We would mine  here at 10ph and they double dip. If we hit one they get paid from f2pool and from us.

-ck  has a good relationship with them.
I have a good relationship with them.

I don't want them to leave us.
I am hoping for them  to rip a hot streak.
Rather then  the cold streak that we are in.

6 blocks at 963 = 160.5%

lets do 3 quick ones  and we all feel better.

Pool restarted with code changes as you can see in the public git, to address the wrong hashrate of our ultra-big miner. Start difficulty has been changed to 10k to reflect new generation miners better. Downtime was negligible. Mine on, and let's get some lucky ones!

What would be the benefit of joining a smaller pool like ck,  over a larger pool like slush or kano.    Is it just because reward share is higher when a block is solved?   If so,  does this just mean we are hoping to get lucky and go on a hot streak?     I was under the impression that it all "evens out" over the long run.   I am new to this and still learning !
