SCAM people.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

Do not buy TORCOIN unless you want to lose money.

1. 'Dev' premined 10% of total supply. The rest is POW. If the 'dev' was serious, they would do full POW, and buy mining power towards it with fair announcement.
2. 'Dev' has not revealed anything about their identity/credentials.

3. This is the crazy part. The 'dev' has actually posted on the TorCoin forums that he will pay a real 'dev' a small percentage of the premine to do actual dev on the coin.

4. Coin does not offer anything new. No new features. No community. No innovation.
5. No roadmap.

Don't buy this crypto. Buy Monero, PIVX, even Dash (I hate Dash) etc. PIVX even has TOR nodes. if you are interested in investing in privacy/anonymous focused crypto.

Oh, and they advertise on CoinMarketCap with banners. The only cryptos that do that without self-funding marketing mechanisms are SCAMS.

It looks like this coin is already dead before even starting. All the information are really helpful. This will be my guideline if there's a new coin appearing on the market.

TorCoin is not anonymous like you think it is.

I ran some packet captures against the Windows TorCoin client using Wireshark and found the following:

* Clear public NON-Tor DNS traffic asking for http://seed.torcoincoin.com
* Clear public IRC traffic to irc.lfnet.org and irc.smutfairy.com
* Does NOT connect to The Tor Network by default.

Here is a screenshot of the IRC traffic:

You can download the Wireshark packet captures here so that you can see for yourself:

Yeah I don't see the appeal of this coin over a ton of coins who already do this. Seems to offer very few new features, but will definitely look deeper into thanks for alerting me to it.

With TorCoin you are running a full Tor Node. This helps the Tor Network. The more nodes connected the better for the Tor Network. No other coin does this.

running a tor full node?

that means the police could get here because someone used the Tor network to spread Child Porn and they will blame me?
