Im still new to linux fyi.  I got bitcoind up and working I think and when i run the command ./bitcoind I lose access to my command line.  I let it sit for 30 min or so and never got command line access back.  I could see from webmin that it was running and people were connecting, is this normal?  I am running this in latest virtual box.
Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

./bitcoind &

& sends things to the background.  Give it a shot.

I am using GUIminer to run my main pools with 1 solo configured to point to a bitcoind install on linux in case the pools drop the local will ramp up to max hash.  I have the bitcoin.conf setup and i can login to the bitcoind server.  I see from GUIminer that it is finding shares and hashing.  Is this the only visibility i have to know that it is working?  Ive looked through the bitcoind wiki commands and there is nothing that corresponds to local mining?  How can i verify that this is in fact working and if by some great chance of luck I find a block and generate coins I will actually receive them?
