Many teams have been rejecting him. that's a signal if his age has become the main problem for him to exist in the various competitions or even play in the champion league. Actually Ronaldo needs to reduce his salary in order to be accepted in any European club that is not a big spender club. Actually in this case I don't think Xavi doesn't really believe in Auba but when you look at Barcelona's current condition they need something more than Auba and Lewandowski is someone who can be there because his capacity clearly exceeds Aubameyang.
If Barcelona want to be normal and play it safe actually Aubameyang is enough but with their current condition it is clear they need a trophy to regain their confidence and almost lost profits from a financial point of view so they continue to upgrade their strength as they are today.
