with amd what you read on afterburner is not power consume to the wall. there are big differences..

This is true, I got similar results as the OP, but my at-the-wall draw per card (6 rig system) was 108 watts after subtracting the PSU efficiency 92% and system idle draw of 50 watts. My GPU-z fluctuates around 80-85 watts, so I think the end results would be similar.

EDIT: To clarify I am getting 30 Mh/s per card (180 rig total) with core clocks set at 1135 and memory clocks set to 2275, core voltage set to 925 mv, memory voltage left at default. I did do the bios mod using the jaschaknack (sp?) PolarisBiosEditor by copying the 1750 memory strap (Samsung memory) from 1:1750 to 1:2000. I did try to copy the lower 1625 strap, but the system was unstable.

For full disclosure, I am also using the Crimson ReLive Edition 17.4.3 drivers on a Windows 10 64 bit system. Bonus, at least with the RX580 I did not have to apply the pixel patch after modding the BIOS.

My raw power usage data is:
Total rig draw: 760W (kill-a-watt reading)
PSU 92% efficient (8% inefficient):  760 - 60.8 = 699.2W (or just 760*0.92).
System idle draw (50 watts): 700 - 50 = 650W
Draw per card: 650 / 6 = ~108W

what software can i use to change the core volt and mem volt?

If you use Claymore you can use -cclock, -mclock, -cvddc, and -mvddc parameters when you launch the miner. See the Readme file in the Claymore directory for usage information.

Since Wattool seems to not read values correctly on the newer cards, I been using the miner directly to control the clocks and voltages, GPU-z seems to confirm it is working as intended.

1. can you run RX 570/580 and bios mod cards using Win 7 instead of win 10? In am tired of win 10 and would like to try 7 if possible.

2. Does anybody know if all those Win 7 pro codes that UK people are selling on ebay are any good and can be activated reliably?
(prices are between $6 and $9)

very usefull info!.. if i take a 480 to the same numbers 1300 clock - 2100 mem, can i get the same Mh ?
[/quote]

It has the same number of compute units/cores/architecture, so mostly yes, with a 480 you'll probably need much more voltage/power to achieve the same core clock however, and the memory has to be tuned beyond just setting the clock

I made a few more changes, namely I reduced the cvddc setting a bit more to 900 mv and decreased the core clocks from 1135 down to 1125 and was able to shave a bit more off my power consumption, which is closer to 102 watt/card now. I also tried Claymore 9.1 using -asm 1 and -dcri 8 and I can get 30.5 Mh/s per card solo mining with the above power draws. If I try dual mining with Decred my wattage shoots up past 120-125 watt/card.

I got an interesting result testing. The Nitro+ RX580 seems perfectly happy to run on just a single 8-pin power connector. However from my tests, this reduced hashrates by 1% and power consumption by 1% consistently The 1% drop seems to only have been temporary.

temp 65~

i cannot go furter because the themp will jump and surpass the 75º at 100% fan :S

What are  the dual mine speeds? (stock and modded). All topics only mention ETH mining..

I've been continuing to tweak and also optimizing for dual mining.

So far:

Eth: 30.5 Mh/s
Dcr: 1130 MH/s
VDDC: 0.877
Core: 1300
Mem: 2100
Mem voltage: 0.9
Strap: Custom mix
Mem Errors: 0/min
Power: 125W

NOTE: If you don't undervolt/limit power, it easily dual mines 30.5 MH/s + 1450 MH/s Dcr

Thanks for answering my question. That looks way better as the 480's

This is the news i've been waiting for, thanks a lot for sharing.
Im geting 12 Nitro+ to play with Smiley

I hate using 2xPSU on my rigs, and mostly have EVGA G2 1300w, which without adapters cant connect 6x6+8 pin.

Great news indeed  Cool

That's where the "uber timings" come from.

Never understood why people buy the 480/580 for a $100 premium when you can pick up the 470/570 for 170-180 and it hashes the same.

Well, if you're carrying RX 480's or 470's, you'll be feeling good to know that RX 580 are not better than RX 480 for mining. Grin

I personally don't want any new GPU to come up with huge hash rate upgrade and de-value my current rigs.

I would go for whatever is the cheapest deal personally. The 570s and 580s are priced about the same as the 470s and 480s, at least in the USA. I think if the price is within 10% I'd get the 500 series just for a little better resale value and possibly slightly higher hashrate (equal at least).

Why arent you using this:

With this:
http://www.parallelminer.com/product/x5-breakout-board-adapter-compatible-with-hp-1200-watt-dps-1200fb/

Add a dinky low wattage power supply to power the the rest

I am a newbie when it comes to clocking and stuff but I am willing to learn. Are those settings you can set in watttool?
