Hi,

I've started mining using a  HD 7770 graphics card,, and I'm getting 183 M/Hash using GUIMiner

Is this a good rate?   If I was to buy a second card and used crossfire would the rate double?

Thanks

It looks liek you are getting what you would expect.  See this page for details along with some samples of what other people are seeing: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

If you put two of the same gpu cards in (crossfire) does this double the Hash rate?

Yes it does.

I am using 2 5750s, which combine to a Hashrate of 300 MH/s.

Also if I am not mistaken: In order to use them for mining you do not even need the crossfire bridges. Of course in that case (without the crossfire bridges) you will not be able to benefit from them when gaming (should you plan on doing that).

Cool.

I've got an old Radeon HD5570 that does about 50M/hash - could I stick that in my extra PCIe slot?   would it work together with the 7770 ?

Yep that should work for mining. Just put it into the second PCIE Slot. On first boot windows should recognize it and install the drivers. If it doesn't you might need to reinstall the catalyst drivers. Afterward your mining software should be able to use both cards. Most miners will require you to start one instance per card.

Also in that setup I highly recommend to not use crossfire bridges and crossfire mode for gaming. Even if crossfire supports combining those two cards their performance difference is so different you might see performance decrease in game rather than increase.
