Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to this scene and started a little bit of trading with bitcoin and altcoins on Bittrex. Now I have seen that on Bittrex you can trade your Bitcoin for USDT (USD Tether I guess), but it seems that this price is volatile (https://coinmarketcap.com/assets/tether/). So is this trustworthy? Are there other exchanges where I can trade the Bitcoin for 'real' dollars or euros? And if I want to cash out some of my Bitcoins in the future, what would be the best way for me to do this (I'm from the Netherlands)?

Many thanks in Advance!

No tether system is completely reliable.  People relied on USDT for a while, and they're not the first "cryptocurrency" claiming to be tethered to the US dollar or to another stable currency.  It used to be better but right now I wouldn't risk holding any significant amount of money in it.

The problem is that real exchanges aren't 100% secure and they've been hacked, had problems with withdrawals and loads of other things in the past (and now more than ever), so people turn to USDT.  Your best bet is to open accounts on Bitstamp, Coinbase or both and try trading on those, since they seem pretty safe right now.  I don't know if you can access Coinbase from the Netherlands, they don't allow a lot of countries, but you probably can.

yes its trustworthy and you can trying to start trading bitcoin for USDT, beside bittrex, poloniex have the same market as bitcoin for USDT. but for real dollars or euros, i think you can go visit in kraken or bitfinex or else. you can also trying to visit with huobi if you want to trying with bitcoin for yuan. and if you want to cash out some of your bitcoin, i think you can use local exchanger that available in your country or you can use localbitcoin beause in localbitcoin, you can found many recommended seller that will help you.

Hi
kraken  is good for european citizens. Of course you can exchange your bitcoin with euros, some others altcoins too can be traded there. If you want to cash out then your Bitcoins. You can get a SEPA transfer from Kraken within 24 hours (or less) the fees are 0.09cts to cashout with SEPA. You need to be verified tier 2, but it's easy and doesn't need to send any documents. Most europeans use Kraken

If you trading altcoins on bittrex, it is good and can be trusted and the other markets of altcoins is poloniex
there is USDT can be traded on there but if you want make withdrawal the profit from trading altcoins
you can use skrill, neteller and other payment gateway that support for USD and EUR currencies or
you can use local market that support for local currency.

Wow, you are severely out of date.  USDT is clearly not reliable and now not only is it not reliable, it's not safe in the short term at all.

For real Euros, you definitely won't want to go to Bitfinex due to their banking troubles.  The OP should go to a "trustworthy" exchange and just make sure he does the transaction fairly quickly and gets the money out of the exchange (granted, Kraken is one of these).

if you can do fiat trading and no problem with the verification and withdrawal and deposit fees of fiat then make sure to do that. because in the end $1 will always be $1 but there is nothing guaranteeing 1USDT be equal to 1 USD, and i mean literary nothing. the site is saying that explicitly that it won't be the same value!

with that said, right now price of tether is lower than USD, last time i checked it was $0.92. and this means in case bitfinex comes back to normal this price will jump back up to $1 (meaning a big profit). now you decide if you are willing to take that risk.

i think it's better for you to use exchange that have very big volume for selling large quantity of bitcoin in euro or dollars, like kraken or coinbase, they are the bitcoin exchange, bittrex and poloniex are more like altcoin exchange to me, don't get me wrong you can trade there with bitcoin and real money, but they deal more with altcoin

Thanks for all the answers! I think I will keep trading altcoins on Bittrex and move my profits to Kraken to exchange it for ´real´ money Smiley
