They just started on ours today. 10kW in total, professionally installed, inspected, and tied in to the grid. It cost just over $10,000USD after discounts(i should have a detailed price breakdown in the next few days). By no means "cheap", but we did this planning for the future, saving money now is just an added benefit..

NICE!!! are these polycrystalline or monocrystaline?
10000USD is nothing for a setup like that, here, a rig like that would cost me 30000USD so absolutely not cheap, but as you said, planing for the future!, if you take care of them it would yield 20 to 30 years of service, so yeah the first 5 to 8 years it would be to recover the costs, then you have free energy for 10 or 20 years more Cheesy

your setup includes batteries? or only grid-tie?
I need batteries because here you have constant power outages without warning, or worse, under and over voltages all the time, but it would significantly increase costs and maintenance.

They are poly's. (40x Renesola 250w)

Yeah originally it was $23,xxx but we go to church with the owner of a solar business, so between rebates and sales with got $13,000 back. This is without batteries. That is our next step. We were told they should last around 20-25 years.

We have a few hundred acres and have been approached about setting up a 10MW solar farm. Will be interesting to see how that goes.

On a side note, I LOVEEE the way these things look from the road. Very sexy, IMO.. lol  Cheesy Cheesy

I'm addicted to hashpower and horsepower.

You can buy ReneSola 250 Wp panels for about $190 / piece, so prices have seriously dropped over the last 5 years. Add one or two inverters, some alu mounting scaffolding and you're set.

Battery systems can be very expensive, depending on how much outage you want to bridge (see my earlier posts about the Solsafe S-Box, an Anti-Blackout System)

Sound like making your own solar panels will probably be cheaper but alot of labor im sure on the person that has to make them, I was also looking into free energy and solar is just to expensive if you have buy them, just like what you mentioned.

I am also waiting for a cheaper solar energy source. Will wait for few more years when solar gets cheaper and more efficient.

I don't think that is an option. Solar's demand is increasing and I think the price will gradually increase too. Try to make a small hydro-electricity generator. Visit some sites, it may help you. A few sites : 1 2 3

Sorry to tell you but this has been debunked and deemed  to be impossible. Watch this video if you're interested. The dude goes all the way to support his claims. He even made more videos on the topic but to me this one is the most interesting.

What the heck do you mean by this?

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

Nah, even mining equipment with free electricity is still having hard time break-even.

That's look great! Smiley How much did you spent on it? Are you using it just for mining or using it for other purposes too?

Kindly,

Hi !

around 1800 Euros per 1 KWp for Hardware .

DIY assembled on the Roof. And about 100 Euros for Cables etc .

Normally it was with the 2KW for Homeuse ( 2 PPL 7500 KW/h per Year ) dropped to around 5500 KW/h.

But then came the Miningrigs ;-)  ( about 1,5kw/h )

Now hopefully  25KW/h per Day = little less for 24h Mining .

Ahh, those freaking solar roads again. They don't work, they get dirty, they're not stress resistant enough etc. He should give up on his dream!

I have been interested in this for a long time, but setting up a solar powered mining rig would be to expensive for me and also would take a long time to get ROI:/

If you think so, then try to use other sources for electricity such as water and bio-waste.
