I have Visual C++ 2010 Express installed, and would prefer to use it, but can use a different Windows application if necessary.  I need to know the steps to take to compile the source for bitcoin in a Win32 format AND what I do with a .patch file if I want to include it in the build.

I've done some java compiling in the past, but mostly I am a web coder.

If the bounty needs to be increased for you to write up an explanation, just let me know.  I'll either wait for a lower offer or go ahead and accept yours.
