I have been lurking here for quite some time, as I'm just a small-fry looking to build my own boards for personal use, but I wanted to chime in and say thank you to Bkk for tolerating all the drama people have been bringing to this thread and continuing to chug along.  Unfortunately I've only been doing this since April with a tiny btc budget and I'm hoping to use what I've mined to put boards together, but once I've got my rig put together I'll definitely be sending some coin your way.

Now getting correct Nonce result data.
Have receiver working and posting correct Nonce to host via USB.

Still a bit of funkiness sometimes so will need some work.
I'm not too happy with the capacitor delay for the result clocking. I played with it a bit and got it quite stable but I think I'm looking for something better. Looks like result data is ~400nS / bit so an ideal delay would be 100nS and I don't get that yet.

No time for more today as I'm off again for my Bkk run. Will be offline for ~36 hours.


That is a great milestone, and not a bad one as you take off to bkk.

I think now is not the time for mission creep.

Get the board working as intended. Then revise for additional capabilities. There is nothing wrong with having different versions of the board IMO.

And here is someone that overclocked his batch 2 with 63GH/s to nearly 100GH/s... Active Air cooling as far as i read.

Well considering the news that has come to light regarding extra GH with overclocking if we could at least firm up the size of the PCB (i.e. leave it at 10x10) and get some measurements, then perhaps some water cooling solutions could be started.

What is on the back side of the Klondike board? Anything besides the thermal via pads?

Anyone have a picture?

Anyone have a measurement?

About the OC
Maybe just make 2 types?

One standard and one OC

I can imagine that the OC-version will die sooner than the standard version.
Also, the OC version needs more (additional) power and active cooling, which makes it a more difficult task to mine.

I'm the leader of a group buy and I think most of the members just like to get a simple miner with just a PCIe-power supply and a passive cooling.
Most of them also ordered x*16 chips. So the "14 chip solution" is maybe not the best one, although I can imagine that people would trade the chips amoung them so some additional K16's K14's could be ordered.

So for us EE n00bs, how big of a difference in work/debugging/etc is it from the K16 to the K64? (in other words, once the K16 is done and ready, is the K64 just a matter of more chips and components? Or is there extra work to get all 64 chips hashing?

I thought K64 was something you built using 4 K16's and some wire for i2c communication between the boards? Tongue

Regarding the request to replace components with more capable ones to allow for OC'ing...how hard would it be for the end user to replace themselves...assuming the end user is able to acquire the parts and takes responsibility for the outcome of modding the board of course.

Correct, K16 basically is like a "hub" with 16 I2C devices (one per chip). Chaining & testing several K16 together on I2C should take no more than 2-3 days of work.

The TH board is functionally equivalent to four K16's linked together with i2c.
