I know that's a pretty early order - mid April I think. But it's great to be seeing some chips moving. Whew!

This is excellent news. It means that as per the posting on Avalon ASICs' website, the dam has been unblocked (at least partially).

Avalon did indicate that there may be additional delays for some shipments, or specifically that testing still needed to be done and "while we had backup/multiple packaging companies and various delivery routes, things still will go wrong"

This is an interesting spreadsheet, but I haven't verified that it is correct (I did a couple of spot-checks and it looks right):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiLYkKIHJaIsdHpIaGdUOWRYVUdncTNpNlVKbVhCbEE#gid=0

Long story short - if Zefir's second group buy has shipped, c. 500k chips have already shipped, and many of the other group buy shipments will occur in the next c. 200k chip shipments, so not too long now.

Hi,
@BKK
did you get the chance to test fully populated board K16 of the last revision?
We still do not have time to get on it as far we are busy.
Any update will be great

Github was updated 6 days ago with a driver-klondike.c file... looks to me like he is very busy and may not even have time to respond to all inquiries.. good news is avalon is shipping.. I will be getting the K1 board from Bkkcoins probably before I receive my avalon chips purchased from marto74's group buy.... I have one sample chip sitting on my laptop from sebastianJu... when the K1 arrives I will work on modding the k16 driver to work on the K1.. and if that works then his K16 code is probably working quite well.

This has been so exciting to see unfolding. BKK as a fellow EE, I can tell you that I love the board design and layout. The symmetry is awesome. Do you plan to offer an option to buy assembled with the included BOM for those of us that have the equipment to assemble? Might also take any possible issues of assembly out of the loop for a few of us as well.

Once again, thanks for all your hard work. Smiley

I don't think BKK has the resources to provide assembled,  but am sure Marto74 can help you out.

BkkCoins,

The latest kicad files show R24 and R25 module values as 1K. Whereas, the last revision showed 2.2K and even the BOM says 2.2K. Is that an error, or did you change those registers to 1K?

If you have the chance you should use the 2k2 resistors. This is only pull ups on I2C bus, better use higher impedance. If you connect several boards to this bus, the pull up impedance will decrease until the bus impedance becomes too low for reliable communication.

Either will work. I don't recall when I changed them on the schematic or why. 1K should be better for a longer chain length (higher line capacitance) but 2.2K is probably more normal for I2C and would use slightly less power. In fact, with multiple boards the pull ups end up in parallel and 2.2K or even higher is fine.
