Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Is this for BTC only? I withdraw my LTC from Poloniex yesterday and everything went smooth. Transaction took less than 10 minutes and affer that I see my Litecoins where I want it to be. Have you raised your concern to the support team? It might only need a follow up and you will see your funds out of Poloniex.

I received a Bitcoin withdrawal recently.  However, I am thinking that they're stalling on the biggest Bitcoin withdrawals and allowing the smaller ones.  Some people have quite a lot of money on Poloniex,

They really are acting shady - I think they'll stay online and keep screwing people over gradually for a long time rather than just running off, a bit like BTC-E's possible selective scamming.

The problem is that most people seem to assume that if they got a withdrawal themselves everything is fine, when often it's not.

I am pretty sure there is just lots pf jealous FUD going on.

One thing is sure, their traffic increased greatly and they could not hire and train enough stuff on time for 30-40k users online. So when form any reason some deposit or withdrawal goes wrong it takes time before correspondence rolls out and problem get fixed.

But if people can withdraw, BTC, LTC and Monero I am pretty sure all is fine. If it would not be, there would be way more people complaining.  Coem on, there is 31000 people online there, if just every 10th want to withdraw and could not that is 3000 people. Everyone would know that fast.

I've been following these accusations and in the end they all get resolved. I think they're having a huge problem with processing withdrawals but hopefully this doesn't mean they're going to be a scam. I thought they were based in the US and licenced? Maybe I'm just naive.

Took 30 minutes to receive a withdrawal email, took 2 minute see the txid. Earlier today I made a nxt deposit, took two hours, even confirmed, to stsrt seeing the pending status.

I know they are doing what they can, but I prefer as well to remain out of polo until they fix that. And I didnt talk about the order that cant went through as well.

Edit : there is still shapeshift to do quick coin exchange in the meantime.

I don't see any problem with Poloniex as I haven't encountered any issue with withdrawals with BTC and ETH. There might be some delays in emails and transaction but I think this have something to do with the volume of transactions they are handling lately. With the continuous rise of Bitcoin, expect that there will be movement of funds due to trading. If the delay reached 24 hours then thats something to worry about.
