Merry Merkle Tree, a Decentralized Giving Project for Toronto Homeless Youth Shelter




The holiday season has been an exciting time for the blockchain/cryptocurrency industry with never a dull moment. Stratospheric markets followed by the invisible swipe of the bear. It can be easy to not hear of the more virtuous and selfless acts within the community, like the Merry Merkle Tree project.

Merry Merkle Tree is a decentralized giving project in which people can donate Ether (ETH) towards the Covenant House, a homeless shelter for at-risk youth based in Toronto.

The Covenant House provides many services including 24/7 crisis shelter, transitional housing, education, job placement, counseling, and more. The agency relies on donations for over eighty percent of its $27 million yearly budget.

The Merry Merkle Initiative is targeting a $25,000 raise.

So far, over 86 ETH has been raised, nearly $63,000 USD.

The site has a leaderboard of donations, with Ethereum addresses donating the most being featured on a display of ornaments on the “Merkle” Tree.

So far, notable Ethereum projects as well as individuals within the community have lit up the Merkle Tree.

Hey there everyone!! Just to let you know, the snapshot for the "MBRSOnly" token was completed as planned last night! We will be distributing the token as the first official public use of SlipStream. It will be soon. But as we are being cautious regarding the implementation, we would like to just DO it in the next couple of days and then report not only the results of the first live fire SlipStream execution, but also that they have been delivered.

As far as the use of the "MBRSOnly" token, aside from being something to designate that you were part of Embermine's Community during our first year, it will also grant holders EXCLUSIVE Beta Access to the Embermine Platform once it is released.
