I have a mac/asus already but I need to upgrade all my computers again to keep up with the times.

Thanks,

Once ASICs start coming out, I think it will feel like a big waste of money  Grin

Why do you need to take your mining rig with you? As long as you have a closet somewhere, just park it and let it do it's thing. They usually don't require constant monitoring...

I am a MFC model so I will leave 2 computers at home running and then this one is what I take when I travel anyways. I also think BFL is a scam....

Dedicated GPU in a desktop mining makes sense.

Mining on a laptop to earn $10 at the expense of a $500-$2k laptop does not.

It does in my case... Not buying it just for mining. Mining is just a hobby.

then what is a good laptop?

this link has the performance numbers for various graphics chipsets:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

get a laptop with a chipset that'll give you higher MHash/second.

GTX680    110.00          1110    1536    RPCMiner with OpenCL or others. Might crash once mining stops. No Flags and Stock Settings (GPU Boost @ 1110mhz Core) with EVGA GTX 680, latest version of GUIMiner (2012-2-19) and Windows 7 x64.

That computer has two of those with how I read it so thats like 3000.... not bad for being plugged into a airport.

Yes, but I don't think anyone would recommend mining on laptop graphics chips.  Your laptop will run hot and I think you risk burning out your chips.

Slowest amd > fastest Nvidia

But still worthless in a laptop due to tdp
