I've had enough of btc and its rising fees along with many hours of unconfirmed transactions. No one should have to continuously chase fees just to get a quick confirmation. This is insane and madness. This is destroying the business model for those who wish to do e-commerce business using bitcoins.  Which cryptocurrency to you recommended to switch over to and why?

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

If you have an open business, and the only thing you want is a payment, not "investment/gambling/...." I guess that LTC is a good choice today.  If you want to hide stuff, I'd think of monero.

You can take a look on ethereum or Ripple.
They solve the actual problems of bitcoin. About the fast and cheap transaction fees. The latest condition of bitcoin network makes not worthy to run e-commerce business.
That will run off the purpose of bitcoin as a micropayment. The main point to take the stable condition of its coin.

This is one of the reasons why many people are switching to other cryptocurrency. You need to pay higher fee just to make the transaction confirmation fast. I guess bitcoin is good only for investments. They need to fix this problem. Imagine how painful the fee is when the price surge up to $3k. That's insane.

What nature of commerce are you getting up to? You're going to struggle if fiat is involved somewhere in the equation. Coinbase and Bitpay only do BTC, but I seem to remember some sort of Shapeshift integration too.

I would recommend JANUS TOKEN because you receive a dividend every month in next and only around 16 million JANUS receive the dividend. There are only 24 million tokens total and right now it's so undervalued. I personally would value it at between 1-10 usd but it's only at around 16 cents a piece, a real bargain if you ask me. If you can own 2 million then you also receive a JANUS XT Token which means you get VIP dividends and earnings.

If you want some cryptocurrency that is accepted also in real world and has some value that could be easily turned into real goods and services then bitcoin is your only option. And I beleive that high fees and unconfirmed transactions are not the issues that couldn't be solved. Even if you switch to some other currency I beleive that you will come back to bitcoin.

What can you use it for?

You can use it to buy bitcoins Wink.

Nobody uses scamcoins and shitcoins for anything else than pumps and dumps and then claiming their profits in btc.
There are no shops no services no nothing for altcoins.

It's not about "investments". It's about daily use.
And without this there is no such thing as investment.

I am not a fan of sports betting.
But few days back, I made some betting at directbet.eu with some small amounts.
I started betting with bitcoin and I found that the transaction fees were eating up almost all my profits. And the delay on confirmation is noticeable.

So someone suggested me to switch to another coin and try..
Then I bought some DOGE COIN and played..
I found No delay on transaction, its almost instant. And the transaction fees were veryyyyyyyy low.

So I would like to suggest DOGE COIN.
Doge is also a old coin and I think it has demand on the market.

I can understand people that get annoyed, but there is not much to do at this point either than to adopt to the situation, or look for an alternative coin.

But understand that at some point all altcoins will suffer from the same issues if they end up having to deal with the same level of usage. Altcoins are fine now due to the lack of usage, don't forget that.

I always need to repeat this, your best strategy is diversification, there is no one single cryptocurrency that is guaranteed to be the best in 10 years from now.

Keep in mind though that any crypto currency currently available will have the same scaling problems bitcoin has if they had the same number of transactions going through them.

Keep in mind though that any crypto currency currently available will have the same scaling problems bitcoin has if they had the same number of transactions going through them.

But you can make many crypto currencies !  If all of them take the load of bitcoin, that's a lot more of transactions that are possible !  In fact, you can make as many crypto currencies as you like, so each time one is full, one can make another one.

Now that bitcoin is full, there is for instance litecoin (but you can also use others like DASH, ETH, ... ) to do payments.  When those are full, we can still consume a lot of coins that already exist.  When all of them are full, we can make many, many more.

In fact, with what is out there, we could already scale a factor of 500 or something (the number of coins that are already running).

Then where does the value you want to transact come from? There's no way I'm going to skip to some totally unproven coin if my RapeCoin confirmations slow down.

I know that feeling, it's very frustrating to long wait long hours for transactions that could get over six confirmations in less than 30 minutes now you have its a game of having your transaction to be among the 100 get accelerated even when you have paid high transfer fees doesn't make a difference

But I believe ethereum is the way to go atm it has a huge supportive community and market is not congested

Ethereum community already fragmented so decisions could be easier although there is an issue of the POW switch to POS which could really effect Ethereum.

I think a switch to POS might not necessarily be bad though. It'd speed up Ethereum a lot more, making it even more valuable. But there's definitely a risk during/short time right after transition.

So if I want to buy a gift card I have to transfer my Bitcoin to an exchange, thus paying the fee anyway, then buy some alt and possibly warp the market in the process, then withdraw from the exchange to my whateveralt wallet and then buy my gift card?

Yup, that's going to catch on wonderfully.

Ah, if you have your wealth in a low-liquidity asset, that's a problem, yes.  If you are holding old cars, and you want to buy a gift card, you have the same problem.
You first have to sell your non-liquid asset (here, an old car) to obtain a more liquid asset (cash, say), and then use it in commerce.

If you have very non-liquid bitcoins, you may have to wait for a few days to get your stuff on an exchange, but once it is there, you can buy liquid alt coins, and use it in commerce.

You know what is going to happen with your question.... right? Every Tom Dick and Harry that has bought some Alt coins will try and push you into

buying their shitcoin, so that they would benefit from it.  Roll Eyes ....Most of these Alt coins have not reached the volumes where Bitcoin are and that is why

they are not struggling with this issue. Scaling with Bitcoin is happening naturally as it should be.... no central decision making, like with most other

Alt coins. People running full nodes or people invested in mining still make decisions and that is how it should be. Bitcoin will resolve this and we will

welcome you back then.  Wink

Ultimately the free market will rein if there is a switch to another coin. At that point its up to the merchants that accept bitcoin who very well may be freaked out tat that point. Lets hope it doesn't get that far.

Either go back to digital fiat or start using a payment processor like BitPay if you want to accept cryptos as payment for your e-commerce I guess. Other than that. I really like Dogecoin - less than 1 penny in fees and super-fast confirmation times. However only a handful of people use or have heard about Dogecoin compared with Bitcoin.

I don't deny the fact that the increasing backlog of unconfirmed transactions have been extremely frustrating. But we should also remember that the other crypto-coins also have their own disadvantages. Perhaps we should fight while remaining loyal to Bitcoin, rather than shifting our loyalties to some scam coin.

I suggest you should buy ethereum and ethereum classic. They are very potential and I believe that the prices will increase in the future and it is obvious that they will increase even faster than bitcoin. Bitcoin can not increase as fast as those coins are anymore

Those rising fees and slow transaction problems will be solved one way or another you'll be sorry for dumping your bitcoins today when that day comes.

There is no way for bitcoin to fail. Not an option. These problems are creating a buy opportunity actually and even with all those problems which bitcoin has,  its price is still skyrocketing!

One just can't have enough of BTC.

There is no way for bitcoin to fail. Not an option. These problems are creating a buy opportunity actually and even with all those problems which bitcoin has,  its price is still skyrocketing!

My idea is that this is because the price has nothing to do with the crypto tech.  The price is the one of IOU on exchanges, on which people are betting.  Those IOU don't even need a working block chain.  I think we entered the era of pure speculation on crypto, without any connection to its block chain thing, OK, you do need to know that *in principle* you could get your coins off an exchange to put it on another exchange, in the same way that you might want to know that you can get a printout of your balance sheet of derivatives on which you've been investing/gambling/speculating with your broker.  But essentially, crypto is now totally speculative, with no reality connected to it, other than some illusionary story in the far future which is good enough.
As such, most probably bitcoin's price is rising because people betting on it on exchanges somehow figure that the associated block chain congestion problems will most probably some day find a solution - but even if it doesn't, the simple idea that "one day" it will find a solution is good enough, because that block chain is not used to bet on the exchange IOU.

I even wonder if some of the lesser alt coins were simply stopping its chain, would that even affect its betting price on exchanges ?  I think all crypto is evolving towards that: exchanges being betting clearing houses, and now and then, a settlement between exchanges is necessary and there, the block chain of the corresponding coin comes in handy.

As of now, crypto is becoming entirely speculative.  I think this can go sky high.

cryptsy hosted multiple dead coins and fibrecoin on poloniex had a giant pump when its blockchain didn't even work. definitely possible.

Its unfortunate that is the position where we are currently where people are choosing alt not because its a good alternative but because bitcoin is making itself to be substituted. I just hope majority of people will not because of the difficulty experienced now will not abandon bitcoin then it becomes worthless all together.

Clear answer to OP: Litecoin. It is the next best alternative, it has been around almost as long as BTC. It is BTC's younger brother. There is a large hashing infrastructure and most exchanges trade it, in large volume.

It confirms fast, low fees...and will always stay like that, due to Segwit/LN plus guaranteed on-chain capacity.

Truth is the new hatespeech.

The transaction delays are disappointing but if you are capable of providing higher fees then you might get it faster, the coins i use as alternative are litecoin and ETH because when i am trading and i am making a lot of moves i have to stick with alternative coins to reduce the fees i am spending at exchanges to increase my transaction speed and profit.

I guess bitcoin is not a good investment at this time and really fees and so over price in the sence the it is almost 1 dollar but when you are finding a new currency probably i will buy ethereum it the closest currency in bitcoin and probably will be the next big thing in the digital world so i will buy it.

Fine by me.
I would recommend looking into ETH or LTC if you're unironically trying to switch cryptos, since those who at least have a little bit of a larger capacity for being a real crypto to use and less of just being a meme that everyone speculates on. ETH is especially good for this since it has a decent track record when it comes to it.

Ethereum and Ripple seem to be catching up on bitcoin and look to be on track to be even better. If I become disillusioned with bitcoin, like some here are already, maybe I would sell half of what I hold and just invest that money somewhere, then I would just hold the remaining half in hopes that in the future things are going to work out well for every one concerned.

This is one of the reasons why many people are switching to other cryptocurrency. You need to pay higher fee just to make the transaction confirmation fast. I guess bitcoin is good only for investments. They need to fix this problem. Imagine how painful the fee is when the price surge up to $3k. That's insane.

I'm not sure people are switching.. Total cryptocoin MarketCap is growing.. this mean more money enter crypto.

I dont see a better alternative to Bitcoin even with higher fees and some slowdown on confirmations.. It may hurt the microTx business for now, but solutions are on the way

A better alternative needs to be as widely accepted as paiment.. it needs trust.. liquidity..

Nothing I know can be as fast, cheap and usefull as Bitcoin is.

Bitcoin is strong and will still be, better be patient for the solutions to be applied.. Otherwise it may turn to nightmare with like-BU suff happenning Wink

IMHO, BTC is the one, others are gambling or private business !

Actually did that. Converted half my bitcoin to litecoin. And now that you can purchase litecoin off of coinbase even better.

Guess I'll be treating Bitcoin like my savings/investment accounts unless something changes. Whenever I have a decent amount of extra money, throw it in and check back every few months to see how its doing.

You can shift to many crypto currencies out there but this currency has a great value and then convert to real money.
If you're going to make it as a payment for your e-commerce site you will have a bad time, bitcoin is great as an investment for long term unlike altcoins
but if the community finally has consensus and chose segwit then the transaction will get confirmed instantly and the delays will be no more.

Don't give up on btc. As the telic/parent, the space honestly depends on bitcoin succeeding, so that confidence in cryptocurriencies can grow to the point where other coins are ubiquitous and accepted. There are plenty of promising coins with unique functions; but you would always do well to keep a btc or two to the side for a much later date. The greatest amount of infrastructure has gone into btc; people will be increasingly reluctant to abandon all that progree as time goes on.

You can sleep around on btc, but never abandon it.

First of all who told you to do the business only with Bitcoin? Bitcoin should have supplanted your existing currencies rather than you making it main stream for business and the confirmation issue is not new it's been there in the past, so before pointing fingers at btc you should point at your self you failed to do your research. There are not really that great currencies and personallly I don't prefer the alts but I have heard that dogde and monore are doing really good, the latter was dubbed the next Bitcoin. You could have a look in that, but would again advice you to supplant this virtual currency not mainstream it.

If you want to shift to another cryptocurrency there are only a few which is good to invest on. If you want to do some research then try to look at the coinmarketcap and you will see the list of potential coins next to bitcoins. You can choose a good coin in the top 10 of the list. You can choose ripple, ltc, ethereum, dash and etc.

We collectively need to make a shift. I want to hear everyone input on this matter and which coins majority of us decides to agree upon. We then need to push that coin to more businesses to either add or switch over to. Bitcoin has become a sad aged old dinosaur. No one should have to pay higher fees and/or wait many hours, days, weeks just to receive their monies. We as a community have all the power and its time that we do something about it. RIGHT NOW!!!
If enough of  us decide to do this, this could actually lower bitcoin value and pump the alt that we decide, right?
So that could be a beneficial step also, unless someone then decide to jump right back in after cashing in the profit from dump and pump of both currencies.
But I'd agree with this, I think it could be time that we should think of an alternative, will be interested in seeing what the more experience people will say about this, and which alts they think are good enough for a move like this.

It should but most are sticking with bitcoin, and converting some amount in some alt in purpose of creating profit. Its always good to invest or keep in some other currency or convert it to gold maybe. But there is always that thing when someone is going do dump the alt price will go down that is risk that we all have to take.

ETH has been stable for a little while now. I think it will keep improving over time. They are on step 3 out of 4 on their master plan for it. Price should go up a lot when they get step 3 done.

XRP also looks to be something that will be worth a lot in the future. Use those.

There isnt another stable altcoin to invest at all, it go up and down all days, eth, ltc, the thing is always btc changes soo it affects the market directly, you can try other altcoins but you might loose some money, but for other side no delays into transactions has bitcoin is getting now.

You can take a look on ethereum or Ripple.
They solve the actual problems of bitcoin. About the fast and cheap transaction fees. The latest condition of bitcoin network makes not worthy to run e-commerce business.
That will run off the purpose of bitcoin as a micropayment. The main point to take the stable condition of its coin.
ethereum will bee same with btc in future?

Fact of the matter is that Bitcoin is still the only form of cryptocurrency that has a lot of merchants and 'infrastructure' around it to make it actually useable.
The number of places that accept Bitcoin can't even be compared to the number of merchants that accept alitcoins.

Though, I'd personally like to see some more merchants accept Ethereum or Litecoin.

alt coins are beginning to be consider since bitcoin having some issue regarding to its transaction if more exchange will add more alts aside from bitcoin being exchange to a local fiat for sure many traders will use other cryptocurrency instead of bitcoin.

I do not see any alternative for BTC, lots of merchants are only accepting Bitcoin.  How can I transact with other cryptocurrencies if the store where I am buying stuff only accept bitcoin?  It is expected that bitcoin transaction fee will increase since the bitcoin adoption is increasing, the price of bitcoin is increasing and the people who do bitcoin transaction are increasing.  Since the confirmation system is created as a bid-like system, people will outbid other people in the transaction fee to confirm faster which result in a higher fee (or fee battle), kinda sad since miners are exploiting this system.  But let us be patient, once the fix is implemented, I believe fee will be fixed.

lol, you have no idea what you are talking about.
traders will always be traders, and trading means you are buying and selling something on a platform and never (or least very rarely) withdraw.
the issues you are referring to are the increasing fees and when you don't withdraw you don't even feel that issue.

also for a trader who is making thousands of dollar daily, paying a $1-$2 fee is not an issue.

to the moon with bitcoin...

If you want to still do business with crypto currencies you have no option but to use bitcoin, the only business that I have seen accept other currencies are bitcoin casinos, most other businesses only accept bitcoin, so whether you are a seller or a buyer you need to use bitcoin.

Totally agree with OP's point of view. If you run a business you cannot afford to wait hours for confirmations and to make buyers pay high fees. I suggest you to switch to DOGE or LTC. They are both old coins and most people own them.

There is nothing viable to switch over to/ If it took bitcoin to get this far, how much longer do you think it would take another coin to reach the same level of distribution? Its  not as simple a s just switching over.

The point is we as a community has to make these changes. Bitcoin was once a .05 cents and below coin. It only became popular and expensive because we the community put value into it. Why can't we take that same spirit and place it into a much better coin? Right now there are other coins with low value ready to make these next level of investors just as rich as bitcoin did. Bitcoin is old, slow and outdated. I think we should come together decided on something, promote it across the board and use it. E-Commerce will only switch if we the community demands it. But as long as we are stuck on bitcoins then nothing will change on its own. Its sad to wait days and days for 1 confirmation or to have to chase some freaking fees. We have to come together on this issue and make a change, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

There is nothing viable to switch over to/ If it took bitcoin to get this far, how much longer do you think it would take another coin to reach the same level of distribution? Its  not as simple a s just switching over.

Bitcoin has a coinbase wallet.
Litecoin has a coinbase wallet.

Both allow direct conversion between fiat and theirselves.
Vendors can convert LTC to BTC on an exchange , but they don't have too.

It is as simple as telling the person you want to pay , you want to pay in LTC.

Fact, on many merchants sites that only offer credit card , Paypal or BTC,
It is cheaper to use in this order now.
Credit card, cheapest
Paypal, next cheapest
BTC , most expensive

If they add LTC, then LTC would be cheaper and faster than credit cards.
But if they don't CC and paypal are cheaper to pay with than BTC.
Bitcoin lost the micopayment markets and now is losing the retail services markets due to its technical limitations.
I had to buy a service recently and used a credit card because it was the cheapest and least hassle of the 3, since BTC is not usable.
Bitcoin is falling behind Credit cards & Paypal as a payment option, that should tell you how bad it has become.

Litecoin maybe? Pretty much the same as bitcoin in some aspects.

Bitcoin will be going on like this until the miners that are being clever don't ruin it completely, and then they will allow SegWit. Until then, I doubt that something will major will be done in order to fix this mess.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Im not talking about the logistics. Im talking about all the mental gymnastics the merchant, who probably got talked into taking bitcoins and doesn know squat about them will have to go through.  For him not so easy.

I suggest for you to try NEM and Ripple, both coins have the potential and are always on top of the list as one of the top 10 coins currently. But also do a research on the coins too.

I don't think any altcoin will ever surpass bitcoin nowhere soon. Yes, we got a lot of problems and we need a quick and fast solution. But even if there are tons of cryptocurrencys better than the original BTC, we still have the strongest market of all coins just for being the pioneer.

However I still believe in multiple altcoins.

Definitely, there is no such crypto coins which has the salient features like bitcoin.Thats why bitcoin is still surviving.Otherwise, any other coin would have gone mass adoption and bitcoin would have remained unused.

At the moment there is no coin better than bitcoin, in the future, perhaps something will change, but now there really is really no one to replace bitcoin.

This is insane and madness. This is destroying the business model for those who wish to do e-commerce business using bitcoins.  Which cryptocurrency to you recommended to switch over to and why?

hum!
this could be true if you want to use bitcoin to small payments..
a lot's of coin was bornt to fix this problems...
I mean that now, whit this high values, you risk to pay more for transaction fee than stuff...
think if you should buy a coffe with btc...
no one will buy a cup of coffee with this bitcoin fee!!!

You suggest 2 of 3 not mineable coins from the coinmarketcap's first 10 biggest coins list.

Ripple isn't a crypto currency. It shouldn't even be on coinmarketcap. It is like adding Steam money or Paypal USD to the list. And ripple is even worse. Steam and Paypal don't throw any money out of their asses. Ripple does. No hard cap on supply, no mining. They should delist it.

I don't really care because I use bitcoin a sa savings account, but you can blame miners by not activating segwit.

What you can do is run an UASF node, not much else.

If you want to risk your BTC in other lats, then LTC is the best one. ETH will pump too but I dont like it long term.

You can switch to litecoins because their network is very fast and they already activated segwit so it will be a lot faster than before which is opposite on what is currently happening in bitcoin now but if you can wait then i think segwit will be on bitcoin soon, so it is better to wait because if that rumor is true then the price will go up.

This is one of the reasons why altcoins can survive along with bitcoin. At some point, bitcoins are going to be too expensive.
alt coins are beginning to be consider since bitcoin having some issue regarding to its transaction if more exchange will add more alts aside from bitcoin being exchange to a local fiat for sure many traders will use other cryptocurrency instead of bitcoin.

Nobody is considering any altcoin... nobody
Just scamcoins fans

It's pretty damn simple, all altcoins are copies of bitcoin.Just as they copied bitcoin bitcoin can copy their features.
We're not talking about precious metals we are talking about lines of code.

And those can be changed easily

most people are into bitcoin because of the potential riches. there are more potential riches with alts, doesn't matter how crappy they are. don't underestimate greed. it's underpinning the whole thing.

obviously most of them are inferior in most ways. people don't care when they want more dollars.

There is something called as scalable architecture. No matter which currency you use, after it grows and has a higher audience it will start having scalability issues. Not only currency, every software model works on the same analogy. It's upto the core developers who they're resolving it without affecting the current functionalities. It's not easy.

This is insane and madness. This is destroying the business model for those who wish to do e-commerce business using bitcoins.  Which cryptocurrency to you recommended to switch over to and why?
So paying a higher transaction fee (still low as compared to your traditional payment methods) affects a business model ? Roll Eyes

I think even if the fees of bitcoin transactions are very expensive, bitcoin user not leave it and converting all there bitcoin in any other of altcoins, even if altcoins grow, for example like, Litecoin or dogecoins or maybe eth..
Maybe, one day fees will be fixed. but, I think it's normal that bitcoin fees are increase because of bitcoin price. It's a very awesome price 1930$ for 1 btc for now.

Not true bitcoin is the most simple coin out there. Proof that its success is not base on its tech.

Bitcoin is simple, correct, but its simplicity is also exactly what people like about it. Seriously, nearly all features that altcoins support are gimmicks. These features are just meant to trap in people believing in something that they will never use. People want to send and receive transactions, speculate, use it as store of value, etc. Bitcoin offers people exactly that. Only point I might agree with is that it (regardless of the fees) takes relatively long for a transaction to settle (confirm). That's what I consider to be the only thing I find that altcoins do better.

tech is the very last thing any sane person should be thinking about. security, honesty and trust are the most important things. without that all you got is a string of numbers.

What business model you are talking about? As a merchant you don't have to pay any fees when accepting bitcoin payments.
For reference, if you want to implement PayPal and use it as a method for you e-commerce you will need to pay: $30 per month, plus 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
Bitcoin is still better than that IMO.

NOT RIGHT ANSWER: LiteCoin is heavily manipulated shit by the same army of Chinese miners as BTC is. SegWit was buy rumours, sell news. Unclear roadmap with not commitments. Just make fucking BTC work, without any hardforks, LTC, DOGIE or whatever crap.

Or just use XRP and be happy.

Ethereum will be good choice for payment method on the business, there are some reasons
1. ethereum has good price around $130/ETH it is stable price will not losing values

Here is a nice article printed today concerning both BTC and ETH

Robert Kucharski, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency trader, upholds his confidence in Ethereum as an alternative. “The easiest way, in my opinion, to solve the issue by the community is to sell Bitcoins and use Ethereum,” says Kucharski.

In an effort to confirm several transactions, there are usually very less miners and more transactions to confirm within a short period of time. So you'll need to sacrifice either time or money. Since you've mentioned it's something related to e-commerce business transactions, it's be nice to try offchain payment systems for Bitcoin payments. This way the transactions still get confirmed, but yes, you'll have to pay a fee which could be higher than you'd normally pay. I feel over time, when there are more miners in the market and Bitcoins price increase (Which it is currently), there will be more miners cause of the profit incentive and growth perspective. Considering this, you might at such a point in time notice that more transactions are confirmed quicker possibly at a lower fee. So basically, all of these require time.

Meanwhile, if you're trying to exchange your Bitcoins and accept other crypto currencies I'd suggest going with Monero or Litecoin. Both of these are good public interest and reputation so far.

If we look on any altcoin they have cheap fee and fast transaction. Dont need to be just ETH lot of other can jump in this, off course ETH has good price and that is good but this will not be only option or key factor for some business to decide if they want to do this.

They will take a look in all perspective that is possible to be. Market cap, price, transaction speed and fee..........  when all is good they might pick one.

Ethereum will be good choice for payment method on the business, there are some reasons
1. ethereum has good price around $130/ETH it is stable price will not losing values
2. The transaction of ethereum is cheap be compared with the fees transaction bitcoin
3. The time of confirmation ethereum is more fast than bitcoin

1. Price is irrelevant
2. It is now, lets see in two years or lets see if they take only a fraction of the bitcoin transactions. How many transactions per hours is eth processing?
3. Time of confirmation can't be faster or slower. Shorter or longer yes but not faster. Not in this universe.

i used ltc the last couple transactions. fast, cheap.

wouldnt go so far as to dump all my btc for ltc though. they each have their uses.

LTC is comparatively better if you want to buy and sell stuff using crypto currencies. Lightning fast network and very low fees for now I guess. The price is gradually decreasing and getting stable. Hope it will be used for all the transactions as BTC became totally investment now.

Nobody is considering any altcoin... nobody

most people are into bitcoin because of the potential riches. there are more potential riches with alts, doesn't matter how crappy they are. don't underestimate greed. it's underpinning the whole thing.

obviously most of them are inferior in most ways. people don't care when they want more dollars.

"obviously most of them are inferior in most ways.." Not true bitcoin is the most simple coin out there. Proof that its success is not base on its tech.

That tech exists mostly on paper. It's not ready to use and no one know when it will be ready. Remember fiasco with the DAO? This is what you get when you try too hard to "kill" Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is already used as a currency by millions of people, alts are used only for speculation.

It looks like some of you have a valid point about alts. I like the idea of getting rich with alts as they are normally used by some entities for P&D coins and go home with huge gains. Some alts are inferior eventhough they have solid devs to back it up and they are just being used by others just to get rich as well. While bitcoin has a full nation to back it up so its more trusted and investors are confident about it. So I don't know if its ideal to go to alts specially now.

The fees have been crazy. I am not sending bitcoin back and forth for the time being.

Holding on exchanges and not sending to any personal wallets. NO reason to pay huge fees. just hodl

Golden rule: Don't hold your coins on centralized exchanges, especially bigger amounts. Do your necessary trading and immediately withdraw to a personal wallet.

Exchanges may be hacked or owners can shut down their servers and all you will be able to do then is to say "hello goodbye" to your coins.

If you ask me btc fees are still affordable, so no big deal. Better to pay a fee than to lose your bag  Grin

I second you on this, I likewise use litecoin to gamble and it confirms very fast and the fees are very cheap. It doesn't take more than a minute to confirm so in wondering if Bitcoin had similar confirmations time I bet nobody would ever want an Altcoin.

Yes I agree. If I give an example of someone who says I had enough of the gold and now I want to collect silver leaving the gold, why will someone believe in it. Saying this will be all a fake game to just to convert the attention of the users to something else worth’s nothing in front of gold. This is what people are doing on this forum with the BTC.

You can switch to litecoins because their network is very fast and they already activated segwit so it will be a lot faster than before which is opposite on what is currently happening in bitcoin now but if you can wait then i think segwit will be on bitcoin soon, so it is better to wait because if that rumor is true then the price will go up.
While a majority of the users in this forum will like to get segwit activated I don’t know where you get the information bitcoin is going to activate soon, I think we are going to have to wait a long time to see segwit activated, if ever, I will love segwit to be activated because not only that will mean that bitcoin could get faster confirmations but also the price will skyrocket too.

Good luck with your LTC, I think Ill just stick to bitcoin.  Tongue .  Even with scalability issue, I am with bitcoin because of its massive community.  More big companies coming in and holding bitcoin is not affected by transaction fee  Tongue  But I still believe that scalability issue will be fix, when?  I do not know  Grin

You can find it that they are rumor and talks about it to be activated around 15th September in in late September. This is really maybe biggest decision to be made in quite long time for bitcoin and bitcoin community. What will be effect it is still nothing confirmed for sure only some speculation to what would be good or bad.

Well if anyone using the paypay and bitcoin then they can conclude both have no comparison. The bitcoin is ways better than the paypal. Everyone wants here to reduce the expenses and specially the indirect expenses of the business. The BTC is the best option for any business to do so.

I am not finding any competitor for bitcoins in terms of transaction fees even we are being forced to pay 400satoshi per byte. Switching over to new currency is seeming completely meaningless to me.

What I would recommend doing is to continue to hold a majority of you Crypto in Bitcoin and then hold a small portion in whatever other currency you decide to use.

If you're looking for fast and cheap transactions go with Litecoin or Dash.
If you're looking for anonymity then go with Cloak or Monero.
If you're looking for a super stable price go with Tether (warning, Tether is being speculated as it may be having issues, be cautious).
If you're looking to get paid dividends then check out PosW, Atom, or Peercoin.

I'm sure the problem can be resolved periodically and is not always problematic with bitcoin transactions that annoy users, I think you should use a large transaction fee to get a quick confirmation, this problem will be resolved soon and will not make you spend. Money for your transaction fee in the future

What can you use it for?
At the moment it's an asset token and your earn a monthly dividend in NXT but they will move to ARDOR and they are building real businesses around it.. It will evolve into a multi faceted token with many more uses.

You can switch to litecoins because their network is very fast and they already activated segwit so it will be a lot faster than before which is opposite on what is currently happening in bitcoin now but if you can wait then i think segwit will be on bitcoin soon, so it is better to wait because if that rumor is true then the price will go up.
While a majority of the users in this forum will like to get segwit activated I don’ know where you get the information bitcoin is going to activate soon, I think we are going to have to wait a long time to see segwit activated, if ever, I will love segwit to be activated because not only that will mean that bitcoin could get faster confirmations but also the price will skyrocket too.

You can find it that they are rumor and talks about it to be activated around 15th September in in late September. This is really maybe biggest decision to be made in quite long time for bitcoin and bitcoin community. What will be effect it is still nothing confirmed for sure only some speculation to what would be good or bad.
Wasn't there a lot of talk about that agreement actually being implemented when September rolls around and it wasn't just speculation? Considering that they claimed to have multiple high-profile businesses and websites on board along with having >80% of the hashing power, it seems far more than likely that the agreement will be implemented, and it isn't just speculation.

All thing considered Litecoin is the obvious successor to Bitcoin if the latter cannot get its act together. Litecoin has Segwit + Lightning Network, plus faster blocks/confirmation times and lower fees. One company (Yours) recently announced they were switching from Bitcoin to Litecoin, and I expect many others will be forced to follow if nothing changes. The other leading alts all have their merits and use cases, but all are structured significantly differently and are targeting different niches that make Litecoin more the obvious choice for disaffected bitcoiners.

This should be more like this:

If you're looking for fast and cheap transactions go with Litecoin or Daesh but you won't find any shops that take those coins
If you're looking for anonymity then go with Cloak or Monero but the guy that want those coins is so anonymous nobody knows if he exists
If you're looking for a super stable price go with Tether (warning, Tether is being speculated as it may be having issues, be cautious). but of course in a few month it will prove to be a scam
If you're looking to get paid dividends then check out PosW, Atom, or Peercoin. that if you want to lose all your money.

So, bottom line, stick with bitcoin.
If Bitcoin would by some miracle fail, all the other cheap copies will go down even faster.
