Did anybody though about this? Smiley
Just think about if you own a 1000 casascius btc loaded with 1000 btc. And someone just want to screw your valued coin by adding 0.0001 btc for example. I mean anyone can do that by donating to your public adress .
P.S. : Sorry for my bad language I`m not English. But hope you got my point.

P.S.S: It is like you buy a Van Gogh and someone decide to add some colour to your priceless paint from Van Gogh. Do you get what I mean?

I am really interested in your opinions. What do you think? The price of the casascius 1000btc bitcoin will go up or down when it shows 1000.0001 btc for example.

technically the value should go up.
the coins inside that key are spendable too so the physical wallet that contained x amount of bitcoin now contains x+0.1BTC and the value should go up based on that.

although people are saying DO NOT DO THIS here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1400869.0
read their reasons.

Buy some silver wallet or any other buyer funded coin if you plan to save your bitcoins in a physical coins. You never know the result

Don't let others know the address associated with your coin if you fear someone may troll you by sending other transactions.

And again, don't do it.

I am not.
Not being funny or trying to send a message here. But just imagine.

There are only 20 or so.. casascius 1000 btc in the world.

Imagine someone trolling those coins sending insignificant value to them. The damage to the original value would be enormous.

My point is that I disagree that anybody can donate to a public adress without the owner consent.

Around 20 1000 BTC coins, some of them already claimed,  and around 400 addresses with exactly 1000 Bitcoins. Maybe the number could be lowered by the time when the transactions have been made, but would be too much trouble just for the lulz, and I think at least some dozen of possible addresses would still need further investigation.

Ok, here is the thing :

~ By adding coins to your Casascius coin address, they are not taking any value away from it, as a matter of fact, they are adding value to it. ^smile^

Do you think by adding a $1000 frame to a Van Gogh painting, it would damage it's value?

~ If they damaged the physical coin, it might take away some of it's value... but the BTC value will still stay the same.

I don`t know about you, but I would be pissed if someone would add 0.000000124 btc to my original valued casascius bitcoin.
It is like you buy a piece of art and someone decide to be part of that. You think it goes up in value for that 0.000124?? Smiley
I specified "if someone add an insignificant amount"

Yes if someone decide to add 10 bitcoins on top of my original casascius value, I wouldn`t mind Smiley
But I`m talking about trolling with 0.000001.
The point is that it shouldn`t be allowed in the first place. But seems that anybody can do that.
