Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

It is possible that the next 10 years can replace it, with its rapid development all over the world I think there is nothing wrong. Grin

It could. Satoshi built a great project, both as a currency and a payment system.

Too bad the vast majority of Bitcoin users seem to consider BTC more a digital asset than money...

I think it is possible for bitcoin to replace the conventional money considering the diminishing number of materials that we need. Also bitcoins can be transferred more easily that the conventional money itself by the means of internet. But bitcoin still needs to improve itself to be able to replace the conventional money that we have.
yes is possible there is no doubt about this, because bitcoin  is a complete currency and it has the ability to attract people toward itself and facilitate them in in a better way. but  I think it will take a lot of time because currently the users of bitcoin are very low.

I don't think actual money could ever be replaced by Bitcoin because regulation of Bitcoin by any governmental organization is not possible. Moreover the transaction fees of Bitcoin is very high which makes its use impossible everyday.

This will not happen. Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency will not replace traditional fiat currencies. Bitcoin has become inevitable factor in finances and definetely is a future, it could fight for more equality with fiat currencies but it will never replace it, simply doesn't have the potential and necessary qualities.

In my opinion, in the future maybe but I doubt it. But there’s a huge chance that they will coexist instead. Gold still exist even though governments stop using as a basis for the value of their own fiat. Gold is still a form of trusted investment among people even if there’s already paper money. So conventional money will not ever disappear, it will still be needed to some extent and maybe take a backseat to cryptocurrency. It will be replaced, yes, but it will never be thrown away.

Then why post? Bitcoin won’t be an official currency unless there were people in the Government that approve of Bitcoin being some sort of Digital Currency that the world could use. The Government does not know about Bitcoin so much so they can’t approve of Bitcoin just yet, it only a few years old.

If bitcoin prices are stable enough in the future maybe bitcoin can replace conventional money, I think price stability is very important if bitcoin wants to replace conventional money because bitcoin will be a reference to buy goods and services if bitcoin really can replace money

Because the fact is that bitcoin remains as it is, a virtual currency.

That is why, bitcoin replacing fiat currencies? Nah. I cannot even imagine how. Bitcoin is not founded upon very stable and established principles like that of our current currencies'.

But of course bitcoin will have its decent share in the future. For now, only a very small percentage of the people are using bitcoin to purchase stuff. It may take some time to even equal the ratio. Bitcoin is still at a stage in which it is earning trust from the purchasing public.

In my -totally biased- opinion, yes. bitcoin has the potential to replace and take the place of regular fiat within years IMO, seeing how bitcoin growing in both the fields of use and value and the increasing media coverage and adoption, we might see bitcoins as a global leading currency by 2030 or so.

Quite unlikely, what will all the problems being faced by bitcoin and the bickering from within the dev, and the miners, which almost always result in non-resolution of the issues that has been keeping bitcoin from progressing for two years now. Our conventional money is here to stay for the foreseeable future because of the governments behind them. Don’t get your hopes too high on a crypto currency that’s going to be the go-to currency of our future.

Perhaps it can be used in conjunction with traditional money but not all of it replaces it, and today many bitcoin issues of time and characteristics do not allow it to be fully used and applied in traditional financial systems.

Could Bitcoin ever replace conventional money?

I don't think it's going to happen,it's to complicated when it does, they can co exist but conventional money should still be our primary, for one bitcoin is internet base and people would have to wait for transactions to confirm before they get their purchase and payment, imagine in a grocery having to wait for at least 30 minutes to confirm payment.

I cannot find any reason how necessary e-currencies have to used in our daily lives.
At least so far so good when to see cryptocurrency and fiat present side by side.
There's nothing wrong that leading to how urgent bitcoin replce conventional money as for now we still need both right?

Even 20 years from now I think btc will not be replacing the conventional currency. By simply btc is just a digital currency. Countries will not let that happen because it will affect their economic candles.
