Update:

The new dedicated server being is prepped for launch, but will take up to 72 hours to port. The process is being expedited as much as possible. Thank you for your continued understanding and patience with these growing pains.

So is the process to order the chips and then wait for an email with the link to the server?  Kind of confused on how to purchase.  I've read over the first page, and I understand how to order the ASICs.  Just trying to figure out the super-secret website part of the equation! LOL!  Grin

Purchase chips, then you get an e-mail with link to purchase assembly.

Yes, that's pretty much it! SB doesn't want the name of the website splashed all over the place to try and manage the traffic requirements at this early stage, so only those with actual chip orders get to know the website details to order the assembly shipping etc.

Thanks guys!  I've already got my chip order in, so I'll be on the look out for the email with further instructions/links.

I guess you're using email addresses to match chip purchases to board/assembly purchases. Just to make sure, my humble single K16 assembly is paid on Order #100000077. Do we still owe you shipping for the chips themselves?

I was a bit caught off guard by your June 30th deadline, even for batch 5 chips? I guess it makes sense to pay for all the boards and components at once and get a volume discount. And the queue probably doesn't matter much but since all the assemblies are expected to be out the door within a few days of getting each batch of chips, but the sooner the better!

Just purchased another unit, this time my order # is in the 70s.   Bitpay is working very well right now.

In my hurry to checkout, forgot to check the "testing" box again, that's twice in the last day.

Hope that it can be added later somehow.

Will you be accepting chips from other group buys, I have a group buy with zefir. Will the units be assembled in the order in which the chips from each group buy arrive?

It's gonna go through, someone just purchased 172 BTC worth.  There's really only a few more BTC needed before the chips will be purchased.  Historically, when steamboat receives half the BTC needed to purchase the batch -- he purchases it.

That's 2000 chips!!! 125 K16 boards... I feel like such an amateur with just my piddly 16 boards Grin

Found an explanation:

Avalon shop has some maintenance or so.

"We do however need to bring the site down within the next few hours to upgrade for trade-in orders. So if you are running into problems ordering chips and/or viewing orders please do not panic, we expect this update to finish by later tonight ( EST time. )"

All the chips are out of stock anyway -- each order has a 10 week lead time.

Hi steamboat,
I have a few questions in addition to the questions already asked by other members in the last couple of days.

Do we have a final K16 design we will use? My understanding is that the current design will not be able to accommodate overclocking that is possible on Avalon chips and that BkkCoins will be changing the K16 board design. Some of the options are to change them to 14 or 20 chips per board which would change the board size. How would this impact the current process and pricing?

I feel a bit uneasy paying for the board assembly where the final design hasn't been bedded in yet.

How will the faulty chips be handled? Will the faulty chips be spread out over the whole batch as a percentage, or will it be luck of a draw where some boards might not have an issue and some may have multiple faulty chips?

What will happen to smaller orders that have not taken into consideration that some chips will be delivered faulty? I guess for bigger orders 1 K16 board could be sacrificed to cover faulty chips on other boards, but what happens to smaller, i.e. single K16 orders that have only 16 chips ordered? Would they go to the back of the queue until more chips are ordered or maybe get a refund?

I would also like more details on the full assembly option and what is included for multiple boards when stacking them? Like USB cables. Also, how do we power fans?

BTW, thank you for your time and effort organising this.

Cheers

I also want to know about the 14-chip plan... I have 50 chips, if I can overclock only with fewer chips, I'd want 4x12-chip boards instead of 3x16-chip boards.
