It depends where you live.

I once read the definition of rich. It is when money is like water to you, you just draw it from the tap when you need it, and you don't worry about how much is there. Smiley

correct it will be depend on your definition and your location, if you are leaving in a third world country like me maybe 10btc will allow you to enjoy the luxury of becoming rich while holding that much you can have decent have and a car plus business that you can finance for just having 10btc.

If by one day you mean just some day in the next 50 years I'd say 10BTC could be enough. Maybe even 5. But as the others here have stated it also depends on your definition of what is nice, and where you live ofcourse.

It depends upon level of your expenditure and where you are currently living. Also money will never be enough so there can't be exact definition of being rich, Personally I will be happy if I can have 1000 BTC right now so that I can live my life happily ever after  Wink

anyone with less than 100 is in for a long, long wait. $10,000 might be possible in the next 3 years. that's one million dollars. not enough to live forever in an expensive country but a great cushion to get started on the life you want.

I think we should all aim for 21 regardless.

21 means no more than 1 million people in the world will be richer than you and it is a good target.

Your question is too vague. Here are some matters that you need consider:

1. Where do you live? Obviously you won't be able to even afford small flat in the centre of London, while you will be able to buy small palace in Russia.
2. How exactly is your living standard? What car is a nice 'car' for you - Ferrari or new Volkswagen?
3. Specify the exact date? Are you talking about 5 years, 10 or 50 years?

To be rich right now and live a luxurious life I will say around 1000 Bitcoin.
To be rich after few years like 2-3 year anyone should have 100BTC atleast.
To be rich by 2028, any amount over 10BTC could be enough to become millionaire and live a less struggling or even luxurious life.

I think 1 BTC is absolute minimum for this investment even though we need to wait long time before we get rich.

It really depends on everything actually not only Bitcoim's price being the main factor, you also have to consider inflation in which equipments and materials gets mor expensive. Lets say having 45 Bitcoins each worth at 2500$ will give you 112,500$ for all of which is actually not a lot for you to buy a house and lot and also a decent car. Its either you wait for your Bitcoin to grow or spend it on another investment.

Regardless of how many btc you aim to have, I think everyone interested in criptocurrency should save in btc, with this tought in mind I'm saving half my income every month, from this half one part goes to btc and the other to savings in "real money" just in case, I think is wise to save in btc but I also think no one should put all their eggs in the same basket especially with the chinese threat on the btc, the day people lose their trust in btc we will be doomed, of course thats unlikelly to happen but there is nothing as being too careful

Aim for at least 10 BTC. I would say that it is a decent amount and would make you rich, just like your definition of rich. And the "one day" you speak of would be probably around 40-50 years from now. Well you did not state until when are you going to wait, right? Achieving your aim does not mean that you will stop there. It is best that you earn and earn more and don't stop until you are satisfied enough and it can sustain your every day life until you die.

I'd think about it in terms of how much fiat money does one need currently to exist for 20+ years (depending on your age).

For example it costs $219,000 for two people to eat for 20 years, assuming 3 meals a day and an average cost of $5 per meal. That' s a lot! And at current BTC prices one would need nearly 100 bitcoin to fund the expense of eating, just eating for 20 years.

What else do you need to spend money on - home, clothing, transportation, entertainment, travel, etc.

General expense assumptions for ONE PERSON for 20 years:

(1) Food: $109,500; Assuming $5 per meal, 3 meals per day, 365 days per year for 20 years
(2) Home: $360,000; Assuming $1,500 rent or mortgage per month for 20 years
(3) Clothing: $48,000; Assuming $200 per month for 20 years
(4) Transportation: $48,000; Assuming $200 per month for 20 years
(5) Entertainment: $48,000; Assuming $200 per month for 20 years
(6) Travel: $200,000; Assuming $10,000 per year for 20 years

These assumptions for one person total $813,500.

At a bitcoin price of $2,500 you'd need BTC325.4 to fund this expense plan. And this assumes no changes to the price or expense assumptions for 20 years.

What do you all think?

IMO, someone needs around $2.5 million with him, in order to lead a very comfortable life for the rest of his life. Out of this, 1.5 million USD is in investments, and you can expect an annual return of around $60,000 (i.e 4% of the investment). Somewhere around $500,000 and $750,000 can be spent on housing and vehicles.

What do you all think?

nice breakdown. the big one is inflation. to beat that you might need... bitcoin.

for me i'd really want $5 million in current buying power to be able to live how i wanted until the end. that would pay for a very comfortable life, but not an extravagent one.

It all depends on your wishlist and what you are expecting it. Where i am living if i get 10 btc at the current price that is enough for me to settle my and my family life to spend normal life.

100 bitcoin for sure. And if I have a chance, I will increase my bitcoin storage into 1000 bitcoin. The more bitcoin you have, the higher chance you become rich
