Can't find an option to update Electrum inside of wallet.  Huh

1.  Do you simply go to the main Electrum website and download a new wallet?
2.  If so, does the new wallet transfer the btc over automatically?

Thanks guys/gals!

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Yes, go to the Electrum downloads page which will give you the download to the latest stable Electrum package. You should be able to install the latest binary and have it update automatically (at least this is the case on Windows, and perhaps Linux if memory serves correctly).

2.  If so, does the new wallet transfer the btc over automatically?
Your wallet file is stored on your hard drive (in the appdata folder by default on Windows). So long as you show Electrum where your wallet file is (or have left the location for it at it's default), Electrum should still accept the wallet and use it.

Yep, there is no auto-update functionality built into Electrum so you will need to go to the website and download the latest version.

The wallet file is stored in your User directory and should automatically work with the newer version. The only instance were it might not automatically work is if you are using the Portable version that stores the wallet in the same directory as the executable.
