UPDATES:

12 June 2017

First Mongolian Bitcoin community site is live now. Recruiting lieutenants.

mongolbitcoin.com

15 June 2017

First donation came from a Bitcointalk member.
I'm so happy that people understands me and extent of projects.
I know that risky nature of giving donation to unknown guy on internet.
I think he is an ordinary guy with tech background like me. So we understood each other easily.
His contribution is vital supply to move projects forward and enabled me to dedicate full time.
I didn't receive his donation via project's address because of some privacy.
He will be remembered forever and I will honour everybody who is willing to do good cause.

For the people by the people.!

21 June 2017

Project leader is now full-time crypto revolutionary.

That is a great move dude and for sure Mongolia as a country will benefit from that. I do hope I have some bitcoins that I can spare but unluckily I am out and my wallet is near zero. All I can give is my warm support to your advocacy. Good luck to your project and hope that many will donate so you can fulfill your dream and help mongolia from poverty. More power and God Bless!

I have a question. You ask for some money on some business project. Is it exist even one business plan on any of the ideas you wrote here?

I want to do something... And put wallet number for donation is not enough. Not to speak of doubtful investment to such pour country like Mongolia.

You probably will be hard to find people who will donate their money for an unknown development project. It seems to me that you need to start with in order to seek like-minded people who can help, not with money but with their knowledge and experience. Wish you success in this business.

I don't think that you will get donations here. You have very ambitious plans which is very hard to reach. You are newbie, we don't know anything about you and you didn't provided enough information. Even if you will get donations, it only will be worth few dollars and it's not enough to start your projects. I think you have to search people in your country who can be interested in your projects. But it's hard process.

A brand new twitter account and your main pitch is that you want donations?

Try something like this. "I am the recently deposed president of the Republic of Moravia. My people are a humble yet proud remnant of the tragedy of socialism. Please donate bitcoin to help my people recover their dignity. "

Most people will guess you are some kid in Miami who is trying to get money for a new bicycle. The Mongolia thing might get you enough for a skateboard. If you pretend to be the leader of some group you might do better.

Wikipedia says that there are only about 3 million people in Mongolia. Other websites agree. How many Mongolian people would be interested in Bitcoin?

It's good that those that are interested get some help. But even the metropolitan area of Phoenix Arizona has that many people or more. And most of those people haven't even heard of Bitcoin.

I'd be seriously asking that.

Our government has no idea, Bitcoin's legal adoption will depend on outcome of social and business projects.
Foreign investment and employment number is their pain in the ass. We have some unhealed economical crisis now.
If I succeed to connect Bitcoin as solution to Mongolia's problems, Bitcoin will look so nice in their eyes. isn't it?

if you want me to prove my identity? No problem with that.

If you want donations and claim to be interested in promoting social uses of bitcoin in a faraway land, it would be wise to make yourself a public figure, but you need to weigh all of the possible costs and benefits, I don't know politics in that country. I'm sorry to be rude but amongst most westerners it is considered bad form to anonymously solicit money, especially bitcoin. If you are comfortable being a public figure you will get a lot of harsh treatment and scrutiny, but you will have some credibility at least in asking for donations.

I'm so thankful for getting valuable and thought provoking advice from you guys.

I'm not decided whether to become public figure or shadowy influencer like Satoshi Nakamoto.  Being public figure is some kind of sacrifice for me.

I will come back when I complete my bitcoin community site. keep in touch.

Wikipedia says that there are only about 3 million people in Mongolia. Other websites agree. How many Mongolian people would be interested in Bitcoin?

There are another 5 million Mongols in China, and some 500,000 (Buryats) in Russia. Mongolia is a landlocked country lying between two of the super-powers with the maximum Bitcoin penetration. So I have to say that there is a lot of potential.

If Bitcoin gets legalized in Mongolia, then it can attract a lot of users and investment from Russia and China. In both these nations, the Bitcoin users are facing a lot of harassment. So if everything goes well, then some Chinese and Russian firms can be encouraged to move to Mongolia.

If there is one thing Government people hate, it is losing domination over their own people. The only time that Bitcoin will be accepted by the Mongolian Government, is in a case like the Japanese circumstances that caused the latest big spike in Bitcoin price. What is that case, and what are those circumstances?

Bitcoin and Blockchain technology has too many good things Mongolia can't deny.
Bitcoin's market capitalization is astronomically so huge for Mongolia alone.
There are some people wants Mongolia to stay weak and make citizens dumb. Maybe they will react but it's too late for them.
Bitcoin will be accepted by Mongolia eventually, It will be inspiration and blueprint to success for many countries.
I expect bitcoin to the moon again.
if Economy gets improved by Bitcoin it will strengthen ordinary citizens thus more progressive country.

Win win for everyone.

I need 2k usd in first round. Sounds ridicilously small for epic project?
It will be spent on equipments, faster computer to boost my productivity, complete my prototype,
pay for host and servers, coffees to drink and stay energized.
Donators will get lavishly rewarded by shares of my bitcoin startup in the future.

sure ... you are an optimist but they keep you chained in a national barrel .... get out to universal air .... if you want to become strong public influencer... well you need divine cooperations .... do not ask donations or contribution when you have your own divine money .... only god trust to you and believe in you so he provides you with 10 000 dollars a year in your divine account balance (DAB) .... sure clean divine dollars as a new supra-real currency based on your goodness ..... avoid to plunge emoticons, that is mighty weapon in wrong hands ... thanks .... for start, you paste me here your email address so we can start your dab .... but also give me an idea of your operating nickname and i will adapt it and adjust to our purposes by using nameology and numerology ..... have a good day!

I think this is the wrong way to help Mongolia adopt bitcoin. You sounds like a scammer with your shallow post. You want to help popularize bitcoin in your country? Then think of many ways that is better and accepting. You may host someone in crypto world to visit your country or some other crypto projects to promote in your country. Or maybe create a video presentation of yourself.

Onecoin shit tried to enter into Mongolia with well funded marketing team to chearlead their bullshit.
Gave bad misinformation about Bitcoin as quick rich ponzi scheme like them. Funny thing is they said Onecoin is better than Bitcoin.
They failed when Onecoin price dropped like hell and worldwide police arrests began.
Bright side of Mongolia is they didn't jail onecoin scammers like other countries.
Mongolia still has no idea about cryptocurrency.

I need 2k usd in first round. Sounds ridicilously small for epic project?
It will be spent on equipments, faster computer to boost my productivity, complete my prototype,
pay for host and servers, coffees to drink and stay energized.
Donators will get lavishly rewarded by shares of my bitcoin startup in the future.

... What equiptment? What is the productivity you want to boost? You are looking for a public journalism job maybe, where people pay you to report on news and things?

Most unlikely since Bitcoin is globally famous now.
Now it's best time because Bitcoin's price spike and Japanese legislation bitch-slapped many trolls who was saying Bitcoin is ponzi.

Onecoin was worrying me at start, They were bunch of unemployed housewives and their campaign is lost for god's sake.
Maybe they're in manhunt by their own ponzi victims they created.

If that is the case, then it is much better. But rather than forcing the victims to take action against the conmen, the government should have played a more active part in prosecuting them.

I'm non-smoker.
I've seen people smoking and If I list them by popularity:

1. Ulaan Shonkhor (Red-falcon), most common and cheap
2. Parliament - expensive
3. Esse - women's top choice in Mongolia, smaller in size and smell of mint sometimes.
4. West, Kent .
5. My father used to smoke Altan Navchis (Golden Leaves) and Nasha Prima (Russian) when he was smoker.

I don't remember exact price of them, a box of Parliament and Esse must have price between 4000-5000 tugrugs.
or increased by 1000-2000 tugrugs because of recent inflation and tugrug's devaluation.
if you need exact price and i will go out and ask it tomorrow morning, Right now it's midnight in Mongolia and I'm at my work too

I suggest chewing tobacco (if one is a nicotine addict or wishes to be.)  I quit smoking 20 years ago when I went to work in the Bay Area.  Chewing tobaccos was probably more common than smoking in my native area (formerly dominated by logging, fishing, etc) and now I'm pretty sure of it.  Anyway, even though I had a chew in over about 90% of the day, most people were surprised to find that I was chewing.  More than that, since I quite smoking I never had a bug go downward from my tonsils into my lungs.  Before about half of them went upward into my sinuses and the other half went downward.

I smoked again for a month while I was working in China simply because chewing tobacco was not available there.  In fact, the store owner kind of freaked out when I asked him about it (through the language barrier.)  One would have thought I was looking for kiddie porn or something!  Perhaps he thought I was looking for opium.  Or perhaps chewing tobacco is just considered a terribly disgusting habit (and I won't deny it.)

I did try 'beetle' when I was in India.  I have a cast-iron stomach, but that just about did me in.  Not only that but the thing the guy made me was about the size of a golf ball.

On nicotine, it would not surprise me at all if there are some actual legitimate health arguments for it.  Specifically in terms of cognitive performance.  At this point, if the 'authorities' say something is bad I sort of take it as a sign that it is not.  And vice-versa (e.g., fluoridated water, aspartame, stevia,  GMO grain, etc.)

A comment on format.

If you go through coin websites you will see a lot of coins that have their own forums, bulletin boards, and other sites that have forums on coins. You will notice that very few of them are successful, very few have many visitors.

One that has had good traffic from the start is bitcointalk, this forum. So from the outset you know they did something right, and you might look at their site, this site, and start by using a similar format, then modify it based on what you think is an improvement. You copied the favicon from this site, which most people would say was not a good idea since favicons are usually unique to a site, but did not copy what would have been more sensible, the format. Bitcointalk seems to use https://www.simplemachines.org/ which they credit on the top right of each page, free open source. The maker of your forum software is unclear, a person would have to click around and find out.

Also language is a bit clumsily handled if it were a western site. Here it is more common to offer translations of a site, usually a flag on the top right that represents various languages. There is a lot of free software that will do rough translations and many content management systems, like forum software, have language modules to make that easier. Perhaps in Mongolia it is more normal to have multiple languages mixed together, in which case it might be correct what you are doing.

Yes, It looks raw. But I will improve it step by step.
I had no time to translate it entirely because I lost whole day debugging and configuring it.
For language issues, My local folks adapted to foreign language, if you walk on Ulaanbaatar's street you will see many banners and names written by English. And 1 million Mongolians were using Facebook's English version until 2014. So I thought they're ok with it for a while.
Sure thing is I will finish site's translation for respect of my mother language.! and I'm not forgetting beloved open sourcism, I will pay respect for it.
Thanks for your advice though.

I've always believed that the popularity with Bitcoin always depends on the users themselves. Only we can increasingly spread its use in the world, transferring knowledge to one another. I think that Asian countries, such as Mongolia, can actually improve their well-being thanks to the crypto currency.

...

Theymos had an interest in upgrading the forum with a pretty much from-scratch implementation early on.  Most likely a result of finding that he had half a million or so (in USD terms) to spend on it and the LAMP stack site was being hacked or hijacked every fortnight or so.  He did do at least some non-trivial work on it I believe, but much such things are not very obvious.

My information is mostly just foggy recollection from years ago on the meta section, and I was never a close follower of this stuff.  Assuming he didn't spend it all, the $0.5M is likely a much bigger number by this time.

For history buffs, this site started out as a part of the BitCoin dot Org Forum and was initially set up by a guy who went by Sirus (iirc.)  The guy was WAY early in Bitcoin but seemingly of marginal technical ability.  After one of the hijacks he handed it over to Theymos (or Thermos as I prefer to call him Wink )  Theymos was himself a very early bitcoiner and with some technical skill.  Sirus claims to have taken his early-adopter proceeds from Bitcoin and bought himself a condo (somewhere in Europe) and washed his hands of things.

Grass has been cut by our 61 million livestocks.  Number of grasscutters growing steadily each year.

I think mongolian camgirls are awaiable, at least with kazakh language.

It's fun to see You talking about some "adoption of BTC in Mongolia", at the moment when no one is interested in buying services in BTC.
All the shit is running in the adoption of some exchanger payment system and nothing more.

Are you complaining about Mongolians should offer something valuable in exchange of Bitcoin?, I promise we will figure it out.
or you're worried because Mongolians gonna hoard your precious Bitcoin and HODL? Cheesy

And you didn't consider that we can buy our own services in cryptocurrency.
I used to spend bitcoin to buy VPS servers in germany 5 years ago.
so I can buy Mongolian hosting services or order tickets accepting cryptocurrency.
It's my plan to support businesses to accept cryptocurrency.

I wrote this in first post

But my primary goal is more than just support business affairs.
If I'm not wrong Bitcoin and Blockchain can provide us more democracy in many sectors.
I have to be like entrepreneur to get succeed, not to threat sharks and start battle.

I didn't hoard, I enjoyed the idea that no bank, borderless, hassle-free payment system and spent them all to experience
that idea when it was very cheap. I didn't understand blockchain and its capabilites at first.

For service and product things, You'll see soon

2 things comes first.

1. We want to swap money globally cheaper ways. Receiving money in Mongolia from your oversea friends are very costly.
Paypal blocked us, only swift and western union, moneygram. it's nightmare and 20th century thing

2. We don't have payment system like paypal, dwolla or Square to exchange tugrics electronically.
Why we didn't make it? damn banksters.

Only local payments are not enough if they're made, We need a system connected to whole world like Bitcoin.

have payment system like

I think, that epayments is 100% working in Mongolia.
Seems Skrill is working too.

The exchange rates and fees of exchangers are eating a big part of transfered funds, if they are in electronic money, other of that there is volatility issue.

There were some coins built on some blockchain to mimic usd and cny. A person could use smart contracts to tie any stable fiat to a coin. Somebody could also make a 'national cryptocurrency' even though those usually turn out bad. But if they were issued to each person based on a national id it might work out.

Skrill is foreign service and Is it really good idea that whole nation relies on little foreign company?
If you want to recieve money by Skrill, you have to withdraw it to Mongolia which uses SWIFT, and it takes days.
Not really ideal way for 21th century. Other foreign epayment works like this plus damn high fees.

I won't support any scams and we don't have any open national id system.
it will be counter-effective and government will react badly.

This is a very good move, I must say. Nevertheless, you can't just come and ask for donation and expect people to just start donating. Any Tom, Dick and Harry can use this as a scheme to just get some donation free of charge into their wallets without doing any project. i am not saying you are a scam but you must understand that the world we are in, the bad ones have totally spoilt those with good intentions. I will suggest you try something in your own little way, drop some proofs of what you are already doing and hopefully that should help in a way to get some donations. Sincerely put yourself in the donator's shoe right now, will you or will you not?

Unfortunately our banksters are not dumb and they blocked most foreign cards. including skrill.
Even you cant deposit into skrill via our bank's system. I had other foreign cards, they were blocked too,
Only 1 bank accepted it, but I have to exchange my dollar with 10-15% lower price when i use bankster's ATM.  Grin

Update: 15 June 2017

First donation came from a Bitcointalk member.
I'm so happy that people understands me and extent of projects.
I know that risky nature of giving donation to unknown guy on internet.
I think he is an ordinary guy with tech background like me. So we understood each other easily.
His contribution is vital supply to move projects forward and enabled me to dedicate full time.
I didn't receive his donation via project's address because of some privacy.
He will be remembered forever and I will honour everybody who is willing to do good cause.

If the guy 'gave' the BTC to you then the risk factor is pretty much equal to him whether you are pulling a scam or not.  No difference to the donator other than some possible future regret.

I suspect that there are a few people on this thread who would appreciate periodic updates and might have valuable input.  Or non-valuable input as the case may be.  Or input with valuable measured terms of entertainment and education.  This thread is probably the most convenient method by which to communicate such things.

Hundreds or Thousands of jobs will be created because of cryptocurrency.

WOW
There in Mongolia are 3 Million of People, how they will become job related to cryptocurrency?

If the current currency solutions available to the typical Mongolian are cumbersome, expensive, or un-safe, then it is perfectly sensible to expect that 'hundreds or thousands of jobs' could be created by the availability of a better solution, and in a population of 3 million it is probably a low-ball estimate.

After studying thing for a time, my belief is that most monetary solutions available to most typical citizens of most nations are designed and implemented by people who are using their creation to their own advantage.  That does not preclude the solution being useful to the average citizen and it makes practical sense to engineer this to a degree, but the focus is going to be to confer advantage to those who own the system and those who 'work for the owners of the system.'

Of course we are currently in a situation where there is kind of a world-wide 'reserve currency' system in use.  Namely, the U.S. dollar (also sometimes referred to, with some good reasons, as the 'petrodollar'.)  This is what I've studied the most, and I believe that my assertions about the motivation and design of this solution are as stated above are at least significantly valid.  Many countries, and particularly those which are targeted for the exploitation of their natural resources, have subservient solutions which are inevitably designed to benefit the more 'global' solution.  An observable artifact tends to be interest in a nation on the part of such entities as the IMF, World Bank, etc.

I would caution that 'the petrodollar' is by no means the worst possible solution and people should think hard before abandoning it for the next thing which comes along.  I suspect that the petrodollar is on it's last legs and the proverbial 'powers that be' are both fairly well aware of this and have been working on replacement plans for a while.  It is a near certainty that the replacement plans will favor the designers and tie up some of the loose ends which they find bothersome, cumbersome, and inefficient for their purposes in our current solution(s).  This will probably be the defining feature of 'globalism', or at least a very big aspect of it.

Maybe we're more than 3 million.
Numbers don't have to be huge to create good effect, measly 1000 people can achieve a lot if they're highly productive and innovative nowadays. But I will aim for as many as possible and I will try to keep track of people who gets job related to cryptocurrency in future.
Number is 2 by now including me.

I'm running this bitcoin campaign for fighting against wildfire in Mongolia.

Heatwave hit us so bad this year, Drought and wildfires getting out of control.

Our government and fire brigades failed to contain this disaster then Mongolian youths volunteering to save their tiny forests from wildfire.

...

If it turns out that Bitcoin related efforts outperform government organized ones, I would suggest not to make to much of it in case it causes some ressentment.  Nobody likes to be shown up, and especially not those who consider themselves to be the leaders of society.

Although I have no idea where things stand currently, I would expect that it is still the case that getting govt officials (corrupt and otherwise) hooked on using Bitcoin for their own purposes is of value.  The very simple reason for this is that if these persons become dependant on Bitcoin for their own purposes, they will be much less interested and vigiourous in cracking down on Bitcoin in the future.  At the end of the day the net balance of such a dynamic could tip the scales toward it being practical to have adoption by common people (which I hope would be a good thing, but am not totally certain.)

Social movement was huge success. 2 months-long wildfire disappeared from NASA's satellite image within just 2 days. Unbelievable.
Organizers had no interest in alternative funding solutions and felt good with donations coming through bank transfer.
I received 50$ worth of bitcoin and donated them to National Emergency Agency after volunteers stopped funding abruptly.
Some bitcoiners I know worked in fire zones and rest of them donated from overseas
It was first bitcoin campaign in Mongolia and simple introduction.

thank you. i am from there and i will support the campaign.

I would donate some as well, but if the fires problems have been resolved it's not of as high of value.

The win I see here would be in pointing out the value of being able to translate value between BTC and other currency vehicles.  More than that, the damage that is done when such translations are interfered with by legislative and enforcement means.  Of course the other win would be to put out fires and save people's homes!

I would be interested to know of future similar opportunities which come along.

I think it's completed successfully. Maybe the biggest social campaign in last decades.
and we needed trusted service or platforms to run crowdfunding. There are some reasons behind volunteers stopped donation.
I will be happy to support if our local folks grabs similar concept instead of pursuing trendy things like AI and Big data etc.

This is just a situational report about Bitcoin adoption in Mongolia, and I'm still alive and preparing to release something.

This summer was kind of explosion to compare with previous years.
It seems like my humble bitcoin site and this topic here pressed the panic button of many business guys. Accelerated everything and Greed done the most things.
Some wants to become Bitcoin Jesus and some of them imagines me like future competitor.
One of them promised fake donation if i report every step of my plan so he can copy it. LOL

I was bit happy when longest running bitcoin exchange was handling their operations through Mongolia. https://twitter.com/btcecom/status/882642461545385985
BTC-e was cheapest and fast source to buy bitcoin from Mongolia though.
Unfortunately they clamped down by FBI in July then came back like boss with huge losses. still severely damaged.
I think it's political war between Trump and Putin rather simple cyber crime arrests.

Good news is we have Bitcoin exchange opening in Mongolia soon, They partnered with unknown Chinese exchange.
I doubt they got any permission from our Central Bank or Financial Regulators this so fast.
If they won't get banned, I'm so sure that crypto exchanges will grow everywhere like mushrooms in Mongolia.
It will be interesting to see reactions of our banksters in upcoming months. Actually I noticed some fears when Mongolian Bloomberg began to bombard with negative and fake news about Bitcoin,
Some news was completely different translations and intentionally skewed from main Bloomberg news.
It raised my eyebrows until I discovered that they had partially owned by most evil bank in Mongolia.

Bad news is Onecoin has began to flourish again and more Onecoin victims than Bitcoin users by now. Maybe 1000 victims at least.
They boast about 10k registered members in Mongolia. Lack of Bitcoin supply worsened this unfortunate event.
So Onecoin came to fill this vacuum easily. It had no blockchain and it wasn't crypto.  Just a web site with mysql database when i visited their brainwashing seminar.
I gave social media warnings and bunch of verbal assaults in return. People are so blinded by greed. Police turned a blind eye to it even though we have laws against pyramid scheme.
If they release their own cryptocurrency version next year as promised, It will be one of the biggest ponzi in history of crypto, I guess

I didn't go out this summer and had no parties, I completely dedicated all of my time to learning blockchain and smart contracts.
Satoshi's work was the most jaw-droppingly awesome thing I never seen before.
It gave me mind-blows everyday. Now I'm very close to reaching my goals.

I didn't dedicate enough time to my site but it has 100k duplicate views and 5k unique visits by now.

TDB (bank) owns some parts of Mongolian Bloomberg shares.
No doubt it's their dirty job or maybe editors having some personal hatred, but it can be handled with effective propaganda tools to oppose them.
I keep bashing Onecoin over social media. Finally It reached some guys and our Central bank warned clearly saying Onecoin is ponzi.
Strangely it didn't influence much. Crime is not crime until victims files complaints in our law. Apparently very few people suing them or nobody.
Next time I will send emails to all media and journalists. I will keep continue bashing them.

It is going to be difficult to receive donations without further verification that this a legitimate thing, and not just someone's attempt at scamming people out of their cryptocurrency.
