New to cryptocurrency mining, decided to build 3 rigs and just see where it takes me.
My first rig consists of the following hardware:
OS: Switching between ethOS and Windows 10, currently mining on ethOS for around 15hrs straight
CPU: Intel Pentium G4400 3.3GHz
Motherboard: MSI Performance Gaming Intel Z170a
RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 4GB
Power Supply: Corsair HXi Series, HX1200i 1200
Storage: SanDisk SSD Plus 120GB
GPUs:
5x Sapphire Nitro (non-plus) RX 480 8GB OC (Micron)
3x Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 8GB OC (Samsung)
*Where only 7 GPUs are being used in this rig due to motherboard limitations, maybe extend it later
I have flashed all the GPUs with BIOs found from a very helpful mining blog, 1stminingrig but I'm not to sure if everything went well or not.
Settings after flashing and no further modification:
Core Clocks (Samsung): 1000 MHz
Core Clocks (Micron): 1044 MHz
Memory Clocks (All): 2150MHz
Claymore 9.4 was instructed to down-volt core/mem of all all the cards to 850 but not sure if it works in ethOS. These settings allow all my GPUs to run 'stable', meaning nothing crashes BUT I keep getting a ton of incorrect shares (200+ in a 9hr period spread across all GPUs). Hashing rates are 27-28MH/s (ETH) for Microns and 26MH/s for Samsungs for a total power consumption of 1250w at the wall, also dual-mining DCR but can't remember the rates since I'm currently at work. I have tried to push them past the clocks listed but some cards (especially the Samsung) will begin to fail after about 10 minutes of active mining, at which point the memory clock drops to 300 MHz and hashrate goes to 0 MH/s.
So my question is, are these numbers acceptable to experienced miners or am I missing something? Any help and recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
