Reading an article just now ( posted here in French )

Cryptocurrencies: a French investor loses all her savings on a fraudulent site

A French customer has invested more than 200,000 euros on a cryptocurrency exchange platform that proved to be fraudulent, reports newspaper La Montagne. A complaint was filed on Wednesday, August 29.
The regional daily newspaper reports the filing of a complaint on August 29. The purpose: a woman from the region saw her savings go up in smoke, after investing on a fraudulent cryptocurrency exchange platform.

The fifty year old woman, interested in the attractive rate of return promised by a platform called "Bk-coin.com" (15%), made a first payment of 500 euros on the website. The amount artificially earned 182 euros in just a few days. What encouraged her to invest more and more.

The woman then entrusted her bank details, including cryptogram. 10,000 were then taken from her, then a total of 200,000 euros, in two separate payments. The website reassured her by indicating that her 210,500 euros have gained value, to reach 357,000 euros. This amount remains out of reach for the complainant, who can no longer withdraw the funds. The investigation was entrusted to the Economic and Financial Division (DEF) of the Judicial Police.

This type of scams is not unique to cryptocurrencies. Nevertheless, these digital currencies, by their very high volatility, can easily be used as bait to attract beginner investors. Recently, the hacking of a bitcoin exchange platform has caused a fall in the price of Bitcoin.

Bad advertising again for Bitcoin and other coins but to be fair this woman was clueless it seems, at least do a little of research if you are willing to invest that much money.
