There is always, always, always something being fed to you to make you freak out. That's par for the course. If there isn't an incoming apocalypse someone will rustle one up for us.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

This, a thousand times this.

If you hang around long enough, you'll notice how Bitcoin seemingly has a new enemy that rears it's ugly just about every month or every few months. This has been going on for years now. Or there is some new "event" on the horizon, months down the road, that suddenly Bitcoin's life hangs in the balance over. "It's critical or it's over, Bitcoin is dead!" they'll cry.

And yet, Bitcoin lives on and does it's thing, seemingly to continue to increase in value more and more, despite all of the roadblocks and hurdles thrown in front of it.

The powers that be have to keep up the "Fear" and "FUD" factors going pretty much indefinitely. They can't ever let up. Without fear in the market, they can't keep people away long enough, or move the market when they want to. This will go on even years into the future as well, even 5-7 years from now if bitcoin were at $50K/btc, there would still be FUD going on. So just get used to it now.

That is why you should just ignore all the crap and just buy. Don't trade, just buy, hold and check back in a few years.

Between this Aug 1 deadline on scaling and ether going crazy I am a bit concerned. Media still going strong on bitcoin but wondering if the future is still bright for bitcoin.

As a matter of fact, I am a bit concerned about that matter. I personally do not know what will be the end result when the time comes (I am pertaining to the price of bitcoin) neither anyone. But since bitcoin's track is pointed upward, that we just have to hold onto this and hope all ends well. It's the best thing we can do as of know.
