Sort of a really newbie question: while I'm mining ( says "Miner has started..." ) I am not getting any message back, is that normal? How do I know if I am correctly mining? Didn't get anything into my wallet yet.

Yes, until you find a block, you will not see anything.

Then you will see somthing like this "INFO [miner] Found block for difficulty: 26179" and "INFO [Blockchain] ----- BLOCK ADDED AS ALTERNATIVE ON HEIGHT 9684"
