As far as I can tell... the only 'advantage' Jaxx has is that it is "multicoin" and has "shapeshift" support built in... and some might say that "it looks pretty". However, if you're not interested in alts or converting your coins, and you prefer function over form, then Jaxx effectively has no advantage.

For storing BTC longterm, I'd have to recommend cold storage using an offline Electrum wallet (air gapped computer or USB stick Linux distro with Electrum installed)... or a secure paper wallet.

Electrum have no issues and It's better then It ever was. It's open source, you dynamic fees, ability to send to multiple people in one transaction, recovery seed in case of a computer failure etc. I can't say the same thing about Jaxx though, as they are not even a 100% open source wallet.

As OmegaStarScream has pointed out already Electrum has no issues at the moment while jaxx is still a new product as far as i know and the only advantage i find in jaxx is its portable especially with the chrome extension and you also have access to your private keys and can add an extra layer of security using 2fa..

If you want to do that, you might want to consider a paper wallet/cold storage.

If you're intending to use it though, Electrum is a better choice.  Jaxx is mainly just good for storing several different coins in the same wallet, which is the feature they advertise the most.

You could also try a hardware wallet and use it along with Electrum if you want, or you could have Electrum offline.

Armory runs on top of Bitcoin Core so you will have to install Core and let it sync until you can use Armory. Armory was the first bitcoin wallet to provide cold storage using a watching only wallet on an online computer, with the signing wallet on an offline computer. You used a USB drive to shuttle transactions back and forth to sign and broadcast.

Armory was always a bit of a pain to use and update, and when Trezor came out in 2014 most everyone who believed in cold storage switched to using Trezor. Then Ledger came along. Now hardware wallets are popular. Armory, not so much but it has some diehard fans who still use it. It is still the most private way to use bitcoin and security is the same as Trezor. Just not as convenient. If you already run a Bitcoin full node take a look.

Electrum is probably the top bitcoin wallet available today. It has good dynamic fees and you can send replaceable, so you can bump a fee up if needed. It also supports all the common hardware wallets. Hard to go wrong with Electrum.

Jaxx vs Electrum

Obviously -- ELECTRUM! That Jaxx isn't a open source project, also you can find that some users have problems with transactions with Jaxx. Than must to write into... support Undecided

I'm using Electrum for a couple of years and never had problems with it.
