I have been on many forums, however this is the first with a trust system for me. How does it work? Is anyone checking the validity of the trust entries?
Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Hi Sundriver, welcome to the forum.

Here's a thread that explains the trust system here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0

In this Beginners & Help sub-forum there is a thread at the top of the first page titled to Newbies, it provides a lot of the answers someone might have who is completely new to this forum. You should read it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1689727.0

The trust system is great, but it's only as valuable as the honesty maintained by each person who uses it to leave a trust rating for someone else. Don't abuse the system by leaving trust that isn't accurate, particularly on the negative side. You'll find people on this forum that have negative trust over misunderstandings, rather than actual wrong doing.

Good luck to you!

It's pretty basic.

The forum admin chooses people he trusts.  They make up level 1.

Those people choose people they trust.  They make up level 2.

Trust from people on level 1 and 2 will show up by default on your trust rating.  Trust from other people will not.
