Everyone has been saying that funds get released tomorrow but in Gox's official statement it says the holiday ended yesterday? Which is it?

Funds get released tomorrow 7th may.

The statement refers only to holiday dates which ends 5th may.

Both statements are correct

The disparity is reconciled by the fact that 5th may is the actual holiday but because it falls on a sunday you get the next day (6th may - monday) as holiday as well.

So the actual holiday is 5th but funds are released after the 6th (which is follow on holiday)

This is strange.

I sent $1000 to MtGox using Dwolla on Tuesday, April 30, and it arrived there Friday, May 3.

Doesn't look like a bank holiday to me.

Dwolla isn't the bank - if they had money at Dwolla already, they should have been able to process the transfer there.

No, the money was in my checking account on the 30th (that's when i got paid). It was at MtGox 3 days later. I never keep any money in Dwolla.

dwolla is different
1) it's not a bank it's a funding source (same as sending a payment through paypal to mtgox etc)
2) no wire transfer required on japan end for gox

ok
