Origin of CHAOS
With the exploration and research of blockchain technology in business sector, it is thought that blockchain is the core technology in the application of commercial smart contract. Upon the initial success of Ethereum experiments, the outlook and significance of blockchain and smart contract are also highlighted.
CHAOS team has been paying attention to smart contract since 2015 and started developing the smart contract platform for CHAOS in 2016. Combining the team’s accumulation in the field of business scene and understanding of technology commercialization, the original idea of CHAOS is to build a business friendly ecological platform for smart contract instead of simple circulation application of digital assets.
CHAOS originates in Chaos, which is god of chaos, the beginning of the world and any concept. It is written in Hesiodus and early Greek mythology (8th Century B.C.): in the beginning of the universe, there was only Chaos that is a vast and empty space. Thus, the name Chaos becomes the synonym of the beginning of universe. We choose CHAOS as the name of project, because we hope that CHAOS will be the beginning of base and trust of commercial application of all smart contracts.
Positioning of CHAOS
CHAOS aims at providing solutions for scenes lake of trust to create a blockchain infrastructure facilities, which means a [Suspicious link removed]mercial ecological platform for smart contract. CHAOS concentrates on helping business with rapid production in blockchain to realize blockchain servitization. CHAOS mainly accomplishes technologies at two levels: the bottom blockchain infrastructure with service supported, and the development environment and tools library of highly expanded business at application layer.
Compared with Bitcoin, CHAOS has obvious technological advantages in the development and implementation of blockchain application. Based on CHAOS, developers can easily develop third party applications. Compared with Ethereum, CHAOS has no hard forking risks and worries. CHAOS attempts to create a blockchain ecosystem different from Bitcoin and Ethereum and promotes it to many commercial fields, such as law, trade, credit inquiry, financial credit, VC investment and financing and asset right.
Smart Contract 3.0 and Programmable Script
CHAOS provides underlying components for upper applications and supports the issuance of application assets. Developers can issue internal tokens based on the existing blockchain and accomplish the transfer between application tokens and blockchain currency.
CHAOS provides smart contract service. It support custom data structure in smart contract to realize complex business logistics and develops various decentralized applications by combining custom assets or blockchain currency. Smart contract provides data encryption by which only personnel related data can see the data, and it supports the plugging application consensus mechanism to reach special consensus demand in specific fields; users can use the contract as long as developers deploy the developed smart contract to the blockchain.
To make it easier for developers to program smart contracts based on blockchain, we transform and abstract the underlying blockchain and provide an easier way for programming that is using scripting language.
Smart contract code will be running in scripting visual machine, which realizes isolation during scripting running to control scripting permissions. And by inputting blockchain data into scripting visual machine, scripting can access to blockchain data so as to realize logic of smart contract.
Scripting language is favored by developers because of its simple and easy grammar. Taking the generality and learnablity of the language as think standard, we decides to use lua and javascript as the scripting languages to developing smart contract at the early stage. In the future, we may support more language for selection.
Other Innovations
CHAOS system is divided into 3 parts: one is underlying CHAOS blockchain service, one is CHAOS component layer in the middle and the other is the upper layer of CHAOS application. The bottom layer provides complete blockchain service, including network protocol, data storage, consensus mechanism and security mechanism; the middle layer provides the development kit of blockchain to package blockchain for facilitation of calling and monitoring blockchain service by upper application to construct smart contract; the upper layer constructs credible applications based on business scenes.

Cross ValidationTo adapt to the future blockchain environment better, the design of CHAOS takes interworking of different blockchains into account that provide it to developers as a group of basic services to realize asset transfer and cross validation among blockchain.

Compatible with various consensus algorithmsCHAOS solves the trust issue of network node consistency and ensures that it is able to resist malicious attacks. At present, CHAOS supports Pow and PoS algorithm and it is considered to support various consensus algorithms in the future, including DPoS, PBFT, DBFT and so on.

Data Division and Cloud StorageData storage includes: blockchain and file system. Data storage is the underlying core technology of blockchain, including defining data format and read-write mode of data. Blockchain data is still stored in linked data structure while application data is stored in the file system. However, application data abstract is stored in blockchain for credible validation.
With the growing of blocks, the space occupied by application data will be enlarging. However, general computers can’t store that big amount of data at all. Actually, most users need only part of stored data, so they just need to download block data for basic validation and most application doesn’t have to be stored locally. The solution that we propose is data division and cloud storage, as follows:
Data division: it divides data into hot data, cold data, necessary data and unnecessary data. Ordinary users can rapidly access to blockchain validation just by downloading necessary data.
Cloud storage: it saves historical data into cloud and distributes them to each node for decentralization, and by means of CDN acceleration, it solves the storage issue of many historical blocks and efficiency issue of data synchronization.

Access with AuthorizationBy reforming network layer, we design a safe accessing mechanism to restrict connections of unauthorized users so as to improve security of blockchain; it means that a new entrant can’t access to the network unless he/she is authorized by more than a half of blockchain maintainer (available to set up), which is a bit similar to voting, where voters are maintainers of existing blockchain network.
It is very useful for private chain and alliance chain. Only in the condition that more than a half of members in the alliance agree the entrance of new node, the new node can access to the blockchain network and participate in digging.
Token COS and Its Value
In traditional internet business world, trust comes from the centralized platform; by decentralization, CHAOS leaves trust determination to all system participants who will receive corresponding asset reward. In CHAOS blockchain ecosystem, trust in the virtual world is endowed with value.
In CHAOS system, the medium to represent asset rewards and value is COS token, which is the unique system token in CHAOS ecosystem as the currency to measure value in the virtual world. In CHAOS ecosystem, relying on COS, different applications can issue different asset tokens which are transferring in CHAOS ecosystem as value medium or equity certificate of applications depending on specific demands of applications.
We hope that fans of CHAOS community and commercial users will be able to issue their own smart contract applications through CHAOS blockchain system and keep improving the whole CHAOS ecosystem to enhance the use value of COS tokens.
In CHAOS system, COS will be issued with the total volume of 10 million and there will be no seasoned new issue. At present, CHAOS blockchain system has completed the development and deployment of preliminary version. Smart contract test case will be published in the near future and it is predicted that the main network and COS token will be released in July.
CHAOS Application Cases
ICO scene: ICO is now a very popular off-site financing way and it may become the most mainstream form of financing. Blockchain ICO guarantees that the process of ICO is not tempered and its transparency by means of smart contract and it can also improve financing efficiency and save financing costs. ICO contract in CHAOS will support to exchange assets issued by other applications with COS in blockchain.
Equity issue scene: in the scene of equity issue business, IPO participants, founding shareholders, minority shareholders and regulators are involved and equity issue involves the management of freezing and unfreezing assets. Smart contract for equity issue can solve efficiency and transparency issues with technical ways, which simplifies costs of equity issue and improves the operation experience of the whole process of equity issue.
