It's not too bad.  I've seen a couple of other forums get totally destroyed by spambots, so this is better than that alternative.

However, the quality of everyone's first five posts is probably pretty low.
It's the 4 hours that's really getting me.
Also, it's an absolutely terrible and indefensible method of spam prevention. I've outlined why in one of the first few pages of this thread.

I don't mind waiting, I'm sure it doesn't take that long.

The only problem for me is that I used to use another login for a business but since I am no longer affiliated with them I have to start from scratch.

I've been reading the forums for ages but ive only decided to sign up now, it seems like the longest wait ever to get out of this newbie status. Saying that it's made me browse the other sections that ive never really read as i mainly read the mining section.

I'd love to get my hands on these spammers for making me wait. Our planet probably has the best network security or restrictions to circumvent security issues, in the galaxy. I wonder if aliens have problems with spammers, hoaxsters, scammers etc....  Huh

You realize you bumped almost 2 year old thread?  And newbies I don't think have most of the limitations they once had?  I think only limitation still is timer between posts, but I could be wrong.
