I'm not suggesting anyone use it as It's not open source but I would like to give a shot. Does anyone know when it's going to be released?

The website says 2018 Q4 but the year is soon coming to an end and they've still made no announcements about it.

I signed up for the beta quite a while ago... was on the slack for it... it wasn't particularly good then. The UI was pretty terrible to be honest. But it was effectively a multi-currency desktop wallet.

However, that was months and months ago... and I've not seen/heard anything else regarding the desktop version since I left the slack.

I haven't heard of any Beta. The one you have tested, did it look like anything that they are currently showing on their website?

It's probably coming out this month (or January at max if they delay it).

Here is a Reddit comment from one of their support members (from last month):

Our desktop version should be available very soon! We plan to have it released by the end of the year. Follow us on Twitter for the latest updates.

Know that you can also run Coinomi Android via a PC emulator such as Bluestacks.

If it's true what TryNinja posted, it's great news. People waited for Coinomi desktop wallet for years. In my opinion it's a great option for users who can't afford or don't want to buy hardware wallets for some reasons. There aren't many multi currency desktop wallets in market. Basically, it's only Jaxx and Exodus. Now there will be another choice.

No it did not... the one I tested looked terrible and the UI looked like it was designed by a software developer and not a UI/UX specialist (Speaking as an ex-Software Developer)

In fact... I found the old .exe... so this is what it looked like:


As you can see, the mockup on their website looks a lot different.

Also, this might have been a REALLY long time ago... file date is 1st June 2017... it doesn't even have Bitcoin Cash in the coin types!

The example on their website does look good, but also looks like it is several months old - probably from May this year given the timestamps and BTC price.

Might be nice for the casual user, but I can't imagine many people who own a Ledger/Trezor choosing something like this over their hardware wallet.

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if after 18 months the wallet wasn't significantly different, if not vastly improved over the beta that I was using.

I mean, it worked... It was just the UI was a bit rubbish. Still, multi-currency wallets are very popular among the masses, especially the "traders".

But yes, for serious HODLers... Hardware or cold storage (airgap or paper etc) is usually the preferred option.

If they want to compete with the other wallets out there, supporting hardware wallets would be a must for them.

And looking at the pictures you & HCP posted compared to the one on the site right now, they clearly have done a lot of efforts.

Now, that would be interesting. Complete integration with a Ledger Nano to support all the altcoins the Ledger supports without having to use a separate wallet for each one. That would be a big untapped market, but obviously a huge undertaking. If you look at https://www.coinomi.com/assets/ however, most of the coins Coinomi currently supports are shitcoins, so unfortunately this is a loooong way off.

Downloaded it for shits and giggles... it doesn't look too bad. Has dark and light themes which I appreciate (I prefer dark).

Seems to support a large number of coins... NOTE: adding a large number of coins causes the program to lag a bit (and suck up lots of network bandwidth) during initial startup as it tries to refresh all coins etc.

Generates bc1, P2SH-P2WPKH and "legacy" addresses (for Bitcoin anyway)... labelled as Default, Compatibility and Legacy, respectively.



However, it appears to be generating Xpubs for all 3 address types... instead of Z, Y and X that I know Electrum generates... So, I'm not sure if this may lead to issues later.


EDIT: Ian Coleman BIP39 tool says these xpubs are invalid! but bip32.org will accept them???


Has builtin exchange functionality with ShapeShift and Changelly.



Other than that, it's an 80+megabyte download and definitely looks a LOT more polished than the "alpha" that I previously posted about.

I've not downloaded it myself, but there's a nice video on YouTube of someone downloading, installing, setting up a new wallet and playing around with it a little - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5VRv-Ke2-c. Unfortunately the video is in Portuguese, but you can at least get a feel for how it looks. Honestly, it looks pretty smooth and slick. I doubt I'll ever use it since I don't have any interest in the majority of alts, and the coins I do hold are almost all stored on hardware wallets, but still, props to them for what looks like a nice desktop wallet.

Do you guys see the export wallet option from the menu? and the sign message feature?

It seems that they remove this option? Or they forgot these features?

I tried the wallet it seems fine but when I resynchronize the wallet it hangs a little bit but it's fine. It looks the same as mobile wallet but some of the other features are gone.

I'm not sure what you mean by export wallet? Do you mean backup? or something else? The only thing I can see in the settings is the "Show Recovery Phrase" option which, of course, gives you the BIP39 seed mnemonic that you can use to move to a different wallet.

This feature I definitely cannot find... but it is just a beta, so hopefully they'll add in more features as they go
