I've been reading about mining altcoins like ethereum for some time now. This resulted in buying 5 ASUS 1070 cards (AMD cards are completely sold out), some other parts, and material to build a rig. This part is clear to me.

The mystery to me lies in the software. I'm using Mac computers now for such a long time that Windows will take some time again, but Linux is a total stranger to me.

I see many people mentioning Linux as the best OS for mining with 1070 cards, but I lean towards Windows because of the vague familiarity. And then there is EthOS but it limits me to mining Ethereum.

What would be the wise decision?
I'm now thinking about:

Windows 10 64-bit
Genoil ETHMiner
Alpereum mining pool

Because that seems to work Smiley (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1940360.0)

EthOS doesn't limit you to Ethereum - it can do a whole variety of coins..  But it only works with AMD, so your 1070s won't currently work with it.

Can ethOS automagically switch which coin it mines according to profitability? Or does it have to be instructed by human..?
