how do I check the fee that was used? I am waiting on a confirmation from bitcoin someone sent me, and it's taking quite a long time.
You can try to check the fee through your TXid. But just ask him to increase the fee through the bitcoin accelerator to make your transaction gets more priority on the bitcoin network.

is there any way i can just cancel this transaction? reason i'm asking is because i like to bet online and it doesnt let me transfer form my main account to poker account while a pending transaction still going through
Your transaction already signed on the bitcoin network, the possible way for you to use the accelerator. But if you can be patience and I may think your transaction will be forgotten by the network in the future.
Some service already offered accelerator service such as via accelerator.

I believe the fee is about 35 cents and he sent me $1700 in bitcoin. Is that a very low fee right now? I went to the viabtc accelerator a few hours ago and got accepted, but haven't gotten a confirmation yet. How would I ask him to increase the fee through the accelerator? How would he do that?

if I send it somewhere else, like to another address of mine, and pay a high fee.. would that help get confirmations?

If you fee is not affordable, you may have to wait up to 1 week or even longer because miners will ignore your transaction and choose transactions which have higher fee so that they can earn more bitcoin and if I am a miner, I will also do that

Regardless of how much he has sent to you (he could send you a million USD with $1-$5 fee, if it's one input and one output), the transaction total size is what determines the fees amount. And yes, your fees are way low that your transaction won't get confirmed.

ViaBTC accelerator is a free service provided by the mining pool to rebroadcast your transactions (giving it a priority). When you succeed in putting your transactions in the accelerator, you got nothing to do but waiting for a confirmation.

There is another solution, but better not to get involved in it, as it will probably make things worse — it's CPFP (Child Pays For Parent).

if I send it somewhere else, like to another address of mine, and pay a high fee.. would that help get confirmations?
That is called a double spend, it may work, if you paid high fees. Try http://bitcoinfees.21.co/ to set the proper fees.
If you get greedy on fees, you will be stuck with a double spend, and zero confirmations for 2 weeks.

I succeeded a few hours ago with the accelerator. I put it in multiple times, I hope that didn't make it worse. It succeeded each time I did it.
I guess I will just wait. Let me know if you have any other ideas. I wish there was a simple way, I could just increase the fee on the receiving end.

Fee per byte    65.289 sat/B
thats the fee that was used. And I used the accelerator. Should i expect this to be confirmed within a few more hours? it's already been over 9 hours.

so i should always follow the advice for the fee from the armory program? I tried sending out .008 again and it just shows the transaction as pending on my bitcoin wallet but didn't even give me a transaction id so i can follow it on the blockchain

Transactions could literally take forever to go through sometimes, unless taken care of OFC. Sometimes they'd need to be rebroadcasted or outright resent, has happened to me several times.

it's almost been 24 hours for me, sent through armory to betcoin.. says STILL pending. I used the usual fee that armory recommends.

One of my transactions went from an exchange that didn't adjust the Sat fee and was dropped after a week then relayed again and processed then after 3 days so slow...
But it really depends on the mempool state when the coin fee is sent.

It will not cause any issue even if you put it multiples times. I have experience doing this as well, paying a lowly 40-50 s/b and using the accelerator. Of course you can't do anything but to wait. But in a few hours my transaction was picked up and I get to see my btc on my wallet. Truly the accelator works you just have to have patience though.

this is status tracker right here and i only remember sending .0075 ...... the 3.68 USD looks like it went back into my wallet

5 weeks ago I have sent transaction with similar fee to yours - 25sat/byte (you paid only 38sat/byte) and my transcation is still unconfirmed. So you will have to wait a few weeks, maybe a month or two, maybe your transaction will even get rejected. If you want to speed it up, use some service that offers to push transactions with low fees.

I have known someone that takes 1 week and his transaction was not confirmed then it just return to his wallet so don't worry that much, all you need to do is wait then make another transaction again but try to add higher fee so it would be confirm immediately,
Oh this is insane. What if someone can’t afford the higher transaction or what if the transaction amount is not too high and it is a small transaction with the normal fee and someone is in need for the money and waiting for the transaction to take place.
I guess this is only the fee game the higher one works on a priority base while the rest are just leave a side.

That is why bitcoin now can't function as a micro payment scheme. The higher transaction fee you put, the higher the chances that your transaction can be pick up by miners to be included in the next block. I just got lucky using 50 sat/byte during my last transaction and used viabtc to accelerate it and be pick up. But I haven't experience a week for my transaction to be confirmed. I'm sorry if you have to wait like this, but right now the only solution is to used high transaction fees so that your transaction can be processed quick.
