i wouldn't call it a "long" term investment but as i said for the reason above it is a profitable investment.
and it is not just about faster transaction, that comes from the fact that it has faster block generation (it is about 15 seconds). it is about scaling issue. and the fact that transaction fees are currently getting closer to $1 and it doesn't even have remotely as many transactions as bitcoin has!

they keep saying some features will be added to fix it and another hard fork is on the way. but it remains to be seen if it is even effective.

Yeah this is the reality and this also gave the much impact on the of the litecoin holder .
Here I myself holded litecoin from one year but profit is still very low according to the long term investment .
Here the good thing is that in the last two month I made about 0.09btc profit ( which is not a small amount according to my average monthly earnings ) .

I was aware of this information and didn't add it to the thread because it has been dismissed by the litecoin community. The team at MIT working on the Lightning Network has nothing to do with the countdown website for August 1st and it was created by an individual student. Even the source code of the website specifically states "Not associated with the MIT DCI Lit project, though we believe it will release soon".

While mildly interesting, it falls under the category of fake news until real information is released. Frankly, LTC doesn't need false stories to get ahead, there is more than enough good news and development. Let's leave the fake stuff to coins that lack merit.

Yes, Id say LTC seems to have some good prospects in the future. With Charlie Lee, it's founder leaving and the unknowns involved getting closer to August 1st for Bitcoin I think a lot more people could possibly look to LTC as another place to store some of their value. At least temporarily. LTC was intended to be The silver to BTC's gold. With its founder back full time, LTC adoption of SegWit and a dedicated lightning channel faucet, it should be a great coin for payments and the scaling requirements that will follow more widespread adoption.

For me it's a good news, time for litecoin to grow up. Today we need alternative beside btc as a payment method or business. BTC has high fee and price action is slowly than others. Interesting that there is such a renewed interest in LTC in China. After segwit activation more excitement there than in the past few years. One of Charlies meetings required expanding the guest list multiple times.

Litecoin has always been great. If you were lucky enough to buy some stuff a mere 0.003 odd a few months ago you will be making a crazy profit. Recently is rose. It was at 0.0012 for a long time then 0.0017 now it's almost 0.002 . Truelly a great and very lucrative coin.

If I'm a trader in that time, not invest to buying LTC because if compare with other altcoins in that time as XRP, STR, XEM, DGB, SC, DOGE, BCN ... they are better than about cheap and ratio growth in short-term. After take profit, I can buy more LTC

I think the fact that this coins are more cheaper makes it easier to invest with.
While we are investing with bitcoin, we can somehow do something with investing in altcoins.
In just my own opinion, I love having a lot of coins. So, I love buying the cheap one and thinking I have a lot that certain alt which I could not have with bitcoin.

Hm, if that happens and Charlie is able to implement the LTC network successfully then it will rise in terms of price as well. I’m thinking it will rise but won’t be recognised as fast as bitcoin. Investment can happen but LTC always stands a third chance or priority while getting invested. The first one is of course bitcoin and then Ether and then comes the LTC on the list. i have entered LTC long term game now. i have been accumulating and am now a BTC-LTC HODLer.

Kid I have held Litecoin since it was $5 and I still have them to this day. I've been around the block for many years. I have seen coins come and go, you say there are 200 coins? Try over 100,000 billion coins throughout history. They have all come and challenged the Bitcoin the king, they have all been slaughtered like cows in a slaughterhouse (which is a really fucked up comparison btw).

Altcoins are shitcoins bruh. Every single alt coin is influenced by Bitcoin going up or down. No alt coin in existence has any effect on the entire market, while Bitcoin has total control of it.

The only reason altcoins have any value is that they can be traded for bitcoin really easily, a lot more easily than money for Bitcoin for example. That's the only reason altcoins have any value.

For me, Litecoin is one of cryptocurrency for long term investment instead of short term like Ethereum, Stellar or other top 20 coins on coinmarketcap. Because its value not only depends on the price of Bitcoin, it still depends on its community want to support this coin increase the price or not. Kid I have held Litecoin since it was $5 and I still have them to this day. I've been around the block for many years. I have seen coins come and go, you say there are 200 coins? Try over 100,000 billion coins throughout history. They have all come and challenged the Bitcoin the king, they have all been slaughtered like cows in a slaughterhouse (which is a really fucked up comparison btw).

There is no coin to ever beat Bitcoin. I am also looking forward to the years ahead. Every newly created coin is technically superior to Bitcoin, but will any of them dethrone the first? The best? No.

It's the gold of the cryptocurrency world, it is what everyone wants, it is what everyone lusts after. Bitcoin is the lord king holy grail of the crypto community and it will forever be.

Can you even imagine "Litecoin" being the king? People trading 2 Bitcoins for 1 Litecoin? Or people trading 2 Bitcoins for 1 Ethereum? It makes no fucking sense.

Litecoin is making it easier for Bitcoin to get their network faster, so I guess it's not all of a waste. Just wait and the price should go up.

I think the litecoin price will rise again if more people use it. It seems there is accelerated adoption in the last few years.

And it was at $40 towards the end of the year... I rember mining for it when it was around $35. Litecoin was the first coin I had more than .1 of. I remember I thought it was great to actually own a tenth of a big coin. I could see it running back up to $250 soon then jumping to $400. Remember what dash did?

It will if more ico project will use it, ltc is one of those coin which also been working along with other top 20 coins inside the crypto market, with more
adoption and more usage from the ico project it can grow just like what eth did and holding this coin will bring more profits just be sure that you can wait

Yes. Charlie Lee going into developing is the far better news than holding his currency in his wallet. Litecoin has much better technology as it has much faster transaction time than Bitcoin, Litcoin process a block every 2.5 minutes while Bitcoin's takes 10 minutes.

Also, Litecoin saw a steady growth in the last couple of years and definitely with its new developer’s help will gain momentum soon.

Litecoin is a long term project and I am sure it has a good future and it will grow more in the future. Now many new companies are also accepting Litecoin as a payment processor. In this article I don't see anything that says about LTC future and grand plans. LTC not bad coin but its importance is too high. It's fork only no more. And always it will be fork in the BTC shadow
