It appears that MultiBit Classic is no longer being actively developed or supported. Unless you fork the source code on GitHub and modify the code and compile it yourself, the most it will ever allow as a fee is 0.0005 BTC... which is not enough these days with 300 sats/byte fees being commonplace. Sad

I would also not recommend MultiBit HD... it has some issues too... (check all the threads)... and there doesn't seem to be any update coming Undecided

A normal transaction would take more than 50k satoshi in fees in total if you want it to be confirmed within a reasonable period of time.

I would recommend you to just sweep the coins into your Electrum wallet. Create an Electrum wallet, backup the Electrum seeds first. Next, follow this guide to export the keys[1]. In your Electrum client, go to Wallet>Private keys>Sweep and paste your private keys into the field and click sweep. You should see a dialog, just press broadcast and wait for the transaction to confirm.

Weird. Is there an address in the "address" box? If not, click on the address button.

Did you click on sweep?

It sounds like whatever you are pasting in the "sweep" dialog is not a valid private key(s). When you exported your private key... did you use a password or did you leave the password blank?

Does your password file look like:
Quote
# KEEP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS SAFE !

# Format:
#   <Base58 encoded private key>[<whitespace>[<key createdAt>]]

#
#   Key createdAt is in UTC format as specified by ISO 8601

it looks like the first, i have only one private key, so from your example i paste to the sweep window, my key line that similar to this part:

Labc123abc123abc123abc123abc123abc123abc123abc123abc

is that correct?

That should be correct. I believe the problem doesn't lie with your private key. The sweep button cannot be pressed if the key entered isn't valid.

Could you post/ PM me your address?

Depends what you're really wanting to achieve... but in general, sweeping is probably "safer" than importing.

While both methods require you to "expose" your private keys... sweeping moves all the coins to new (and hopefully unexposed) private keys. Importing leaves the coins on the old keys which have effectively been exposed.

If you have MultiBit Classic then it is very easy to export your private keys... Just use "Tools -> Export Private Keys":

Don't encrypt it, otherwise you won't be able to open the output file in a text editor and copy/paste the keys Wink

But do be careful... If someone gets access to that file, they can take all your coins... So I'd suggest doing it while disconnected... Import to Electrum... Delete export file... And then reconnect.
