There is something fishy going on if all of the major pools went down but blocks were being found every 20 seconds... AND the difficulty is rising. Meanwhile my hash is only 60% of what it was with the new N... WTF?

I know, but if you first take away a large portion of the network hashrate from yac.dontmine.me and decrease everyone else's hashrate by a good 20-40% due to N factor, difficulty should not increase and blocks shouldn't be found so quickly.

Over 60 seconds on average so "blocks shouldn't be found so quickly" does not hold the water.

The difficulty was increasing meaning blocks were found too quickly.

I'm curious, was everyone imagining that when N increased, difficulty would instantly drop (and thus, block reward would increase)?  That's definitely not how it looks in the code.

My guess is that the difficulty adjustment is too slow and the starting difficulty was too low. So now, the difficulty is still trying to catch up and is increasing, just not as quickly.
