How about it? I think a website which handles MILLIONS OF DOLLARS worth of anything, and fails as hard as this... can't be soon forgiven.

How many of you had $1000 (not in BTC but in USD)? How many of you had $100? Your USD could be all gone.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Class action suits do nothing but make lawyers rich.  Perhaps we should wait and see what happens before starting any type of threats of legal action.  People tend to respond better before just saying the hell with it and letting lawyers pick through scraps.

Yes that is why I said "IF"

If all my USD and BTC is there when the site is back up, then that is not a problem.
However, given such a breach, I doubt many people will be happy after the revival.

MagicalTux has stated that the money is all safe and secure, or most of it anyway.

As in, any withdrawals of bitcoins that were fraudulent have gone through, but the master wallet was not compromised.

Class action lawsuit, you gotta be kidding me... Do you even know if Japan has class action lawsuits? Stop throwing around threats until mtgox is back and running.

Anything MagicalTux says lately can't even be taken with a grain of salt. I mean first there is no security breach. Then he says oh its fine its all encrypted yada yada. And now the real story comes out. Can you really believe him at this point? I'm sure most accounts are untouched but some will be fucked up for sure.

It'll get sorted out. Give it time. If you are going to start a suit, you are talking about months and maybe even year for it to settle. You can wait a few days to see what happens.

You guys are thinking about this account and that account.

I am thinking of the entire economy in general. If they took 1BTC from this guy, 6BTC from that guy and 300BTC from that guy, etc. This all will add up in the big picture. Get it?

But they didn't.  They took $1000 worth of BTC from one guy.  And even MtGox said it wasn't much, and they will easily cover the loss for the guy who was hacked.

Freaking BRILLIANT idea of the month, TKE406!

Maybe we can have the Feds regulate the rest of the Bitcoin industry too?

Even if all your BTC and USD is fine, MTGOX is still at fault for crashing the entire BTC economy, and as far as I know that's a pretty damn good reason to file a class action suit.

And if that's not a good enough reason, you can still sue for leaking thousands of pieces of private information. id be surprised if MTGOX recovers completely and/will still be around a year from now. This isnt just some fake money we and can push the ops we messed up button and get it all back, once BTC is gone....ITS GONE.
