Hello OP.
You can successfully mine coins using your PC. I have first started my mining on my CPU. But profit varies on your CPU.
You cant mine bitcoin using CPU or laptop, but you can mine altcoins like DOT, DGB, etc.
Peoples posting here- please dont spread wrong information. Altcoins can be mined using CPU.
If you need more info about CPU mining, post here. Dont PM.
I dont spread any information in presonal messege.

Not even altcoins!!! Don't give bad advice!!! Laptop GPUs CANNOT dissipate the heat generated by mining..... You may be ok for a day or two but it will burn up VERY shortly & in a spectacular magic smoke release!!!!! Stick with desktops only to be safe!!!  |

If you are looking to mine Bitcoin using PC or Laptop then you are not going to mine anything.
Yes, You can mine some altcoin but with PC or laptop you cannot mine that much alt and you will lose your money in electricity.
So, better start with some hardware or at least GPU's not a single but with more then one.

I'm mining HODLcoin with my laptop no problem. Can't say that it's profitable lol but mining works fine. 24/7 for a few days no problem. But... it's a CPU only coin, no gpu involved.

I recently downloaded nicehash to see what my laptop is capable of.
Just don't do it. It gets dangerously hot in 4-5 mins and the amount i mine is laughable. 0.12$/day with i5 cpu and 0.70$/day with my poor gtx850m gpu.
I wouldn't run that software even if i were making more. The problem is heat.

Wouldn't do that...can you tear apart your laptop to check your CPU fan & heatsink aren't clogged with crap?? If not it just may be clogged.....and then poof!!!! Magic smoke!!!! |
