Hi , I'm new so basically I still have a lot to learn about the cryptocurrency , but I would like to know if it would be possible for the bitcoin to start the downfall ? I mean like what scenario can happen that the bitcoin would be pushed back like 5-6 years ?
Sorry if my post is in the wrong place or it's not relevant.

Make sure you back up your wallet regularly! Unlike a bank account, nobody can help you if you lose access to your BTC.

Bitcoin lost %80 of its value after the GoX crash in late 2013. People panic sold their coins in despair. The price fell from over 1k$ to as low as 200$ in time. The recovery took very long time but those who hold their coins won the jackpot. Even the top buyers made at east %100 profits since then.

Can bitcoin lose its value? Yes. Only for a time.

In the long run, there will be a recovery as always.

The Solution: If you won't be able to deal with the pain of holding bitcoins for long years, only hold the amount you can afford to lose.

Just look at the past few days. The price of the bitcoin went down half a thousand in like a day. The thing that you must know when you get involved with bitcoins is that everything is possible and the price might go as low as back to 300 dollars in a few days easily if the massive dump starts. The price is fluctuating all the time.

I remember the day when mtgox scam happened, that was terrible. All people suddenly understood that they might lose all their savings on the exchange so they started selling it massively. Other people who saw that the price is going down started fomoing and selling it as well in order to take as small loss as possible.

To be honest at the moment, ethereum seems to be way better investment option short term. A lot of people are jumping in order to make as much profit out of it as possible, so I wouldn't be surprised if the price started going up again. Bitcoin is becoming weaker and weaker with time as eth market cap is going up.

yes bitcoin may go down below $2000 but look it at positive don't sell but buy more and I think bitcoins will stay in market for atleast next 10 years as it is currently the primary crypto currency. Bitcoin can lose it's value in future but it will take years to fully replace bitcoins. Bitcoin is in the market since 2008, survived many attacks and accepted by many countries so I think it will be available for many years to come and hard to lose it's value anytime soon.

Guys thank you for the answers , but I'm not reffering to the 10-20 % spike in value , I mean like a complete downfall , lets say for it's price to go down to something like a few $.

That will never happen. (If you are talking about 5-10$ lvl)

Even if USA/China/Russia bans bitcoin tomorrow, that possibility is very unlikely to become reality. %80 loss or %99, the same principle always applies:

If you won't be able to deal with the pain of holding bitcoins for long years, only hold the amount you can afford to lose.

Diversification is your friend. Less % in more risky assets, More % in less risky ones.

Since bitcoin is not stable there are possibility that there is a chance that the price can be fall the price of bitcoin is always depends on the demand and supply. That's why the price today is high because bitcoin is growing everyday and some country are accepting it locally. If you heard about japan that bitcoin was legal in their country its really a big help to push the price at this level ($2,000+) so if you analyze the value for now from last year and today we will see the large movement of the price compare to the last year except to 2013 when the price was hit $1,000.
If there's a disaster coming that can destroy the whole block chain or hack the whole bitcoin program that can affect the value of bitcoin or if many exchange site are down and turn into scam it can be a big effect in the value of bitcoin.
So if you are afraid of investing your money in bitcoin better to try some work like marketing online or offer some service that accepting bitcoin then scaling up in trading.  and save your bitcoin for a long time and make a profit..

If no body wants to buy bitcoins,it would start losing its value. But i don't think that it would happen.Demand for bitcoins is increasing day by day.Mass adoption of bitcoins is taking place.New countries are coming forward to accept bitcoin legally. So no need to worry about that.

Yes it's just a digital asset and like any other asset, bitcoin also can undergo huge dumps. This is possible and probable. You can't expect it to increase all the time.

In bitcoin, nothing is impossible. Yes its possible, it depends on the user if the bitcoin lose it's value. In everything that you do? You should know your limitations and know the real value of a thing. Becquse if you abused or over used bitcoin? In the end you are the one who would suffer.

That’s why it’s kind of funny to see people trying to invest their lifesavings into Bitcoin just so they could make a few hundred dollars then cash the coins out when the coins get more expensive like a year later or something. If those people cashed some coins out and tried to hold a few then they are very likely to get rich while having side cash that they can spend.

Sure it can lost value, because bitcoin id decentralized so the value is based on pump and dump, so basically if people stop using bitcoin then the price will fall down and now many investor already split ther investment in alt coin, so if the investor choose another coin to invest then bitcoin will slowly losing its value

It's clearly that demand and supply is influenced the price however you might be right that some countries are starting to embrace bitcoin can make bitcoin's value up since it's a good news, people will invest their money in bitcoin and the price will be up. The point is If the demand increases so the price will be increase simple as that. In the other hand there are some factors that affected bitcoin's value one of that is halving, whether the price up or down, the thing that is sure there will be volatility.

You're right, there's small chance that bitcoin will lose its value as the founder ever stated it, such as ; bitcoin will rise or lose its value in 20 years. But, I can't find any scenario why bitcoin could crash and lose all of its value, I mean bitcoin price already reach over $3000 and many people keep buying and more adopters join the community. Look at Japan which has legalized bitcoin as legal payment, many companies in there accepted bitcoin transaction, even an airline. That what makes it could survive another 5-6 years later.

Yeah as they say that only invest in what you can afford to lose. Don't be too greedy. As we all know bitcoin is not stable as like the other currency. There's pump and dump. Sometimes the value will go down as the supply is high.
After 5 to 6 years bitcoin will be still a big hit. It will develop and it's still expermental.
Of course, bitcoin will lose its value but this is just a little. It's the nature of every currency.

All possibilities could happen, bitcoin could have fallen to the price of $ 1000 but I think it might not be under $ 1000, at least for now it's not possible. Most people predict bitcoin prices will rise as many countries that legalize bitcoin in transactions, for example russia and japan

of course it can, just like anything else that has some kind of value. Tho, bitcoin is getting more and more widespread around the world with big businesses accepting it, countries accepting it, more people like you are getting into bitcoin so the demand is getting higher and with the demand going up so is the price.

And this year has been going great for the bitcoin, so far, and  I believe that every passing year will be better than the last.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.
