As predicted months ago... this fight was meant to happen. I knew it was going to be 2017, but september, not this soon (August 26th)

This will be the biggest fight ever in terms of numbers. Expect insane gambling to happen that night.

Will Mayweather win as expected? Will McGregor pull the biggest upset ever and make a lot of people rich in case you bet for a McGregor win? Let's find out. My money is on Mayweather as usual. It worked 49 times, it should work again. Anything can happen in the sport of boxing tho, which is what makes this fight interesting, to see if McGregor lucks out and uses his power to KO him. I think his possibilities for an upset will get increasingly harder the longer the fight goes on. Mayweather typically tests the opponent for some rounds then proceeds to perform surgery on him, so McGregor needs to find a way o stop the fight quick.

It is finally official. I know I have doubted it many times before in @jaytiesto's old thread but now I feel very excited about the fight. Yes I am eating my own words.

As an MMA fan I am betting for Conor. Are there boxing fans in the here?



Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather will fight UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a much-discussed boxing match on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, a well-placed source told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday.

Mayweather and McGregor both confirmed the fight on social media on Wednesday.

According to UFC president Dana White, the fight will be at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be contested at 154 pounds. It will be a standard, 12-round boxing match with 10-ounce gloves. The Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday approved the request from Mayweather Promotions to put on a boxing card on Aug. 26 at the MGM Grand. The venue could change, however, to T-Mobile.

The bout will be distributed via Showtime pay-per-view. It will be an entirely boxing card. Mayweather Promotions will be the lead promoter.

I don't see any impact of this fight as a real fighter. Only for entertainment purposes. I doubt their anger at each other is sincere. Anyways will watched this as no doubt one of the popular matches in the history.

12 round boxing match which mean this fight will use boxing regulations and Mayweather had more experience for boxing fight rather than McGregor so this is could be good advantages for Mayweather and maybe Mayweather Will continue his clean record once again

I haven't seen or watched any Conor Mcgregor's fights but I guess he really has a potential to beat mayweather, I am a boxing fan at the same time an MMA fan but since I am not a fan of mayweather I would rather choose Mcgregor to bet on over him we all know that mayweather has more experience than mcgregor when it comes to boxing but I think an MMA fighter has much strength and power punches .

This is clearly for the money. How can you expect an MMA fighter (even of McGregor's caliber) to match up against the boxing skills of Money Mayweather who has been boxing for the most part of his life, and who has never been defeated ever? Although I hate how Floyd fights, he would clearly outbox, outsmart, and outmatch Conor in this one. This would no doubt be bigger than the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight and would definitely break new records in terms of ticket sales, PPVs, and betting. Way to make both fighters richer.

So this really happening now, i guess gambling industry will be alive and healthy when this fight started its a great gamble for mcconnor as doesnt have any strategy in regards to this game he only have all the guts and playing or betting with is really a big risk  but if got lucky earnings would be much appreciated. If Money Mayweather will not change his boxing style and this fight will be using boxing rules then I'll put my money with Mayweather. This guy can run around the ring all 12 rounds without being hit and I can see McGregor getting pissed with Mayweather and lose his focus. Boxing and MMA are entirely different with each other. It's like watching a fight between a tae kwondo practitioner and an aikido practitioner, one will just wait for the attack or commit mistake.

For real the odds for McGregor is so that big +700. I think McGregor still have a chance to win, but yeah it's about money on this match. The biggest match in the history $$. Is it using boxing rules ? If yes Mayweather can be just use running strategy like when he fight against manny. I bet McGregor will taunt so much on the ring.

I can’t imagine how he’d stand a chance against Mayweather, where 49  legit boxers have failed and can’t even figure out how to solve the Mayweather puzzle. This would be more of a circus and the hype this fight is going to generate is what’s going to make it exciting, not the actual fight itself. This might not even go the distance as Conor isn’t used to fighting longer than 25 minutes.

Finally we're given a go for this to happen. Looking forward to this fight and as much as i'm a connor fan, floyd's probably got this already. I'm not doubting connor's skills and ability ashe's proven quite a lot already in the ufc, but boxing is mayweather's turf. I don't think we'll be seeing a stain on floyd's u blemished record yet

Really strange,you are a MMA fan and yet you never watched any of Mcgregor's matches as he was the hot shot and an active fighter in MMA and still never watched any matches,what matches you watch then. as he was involved in some of the most anticipated matches in MMA history.

Conor has:

-Height advantage
-Reach advantage
-Age advantage
-Power advantage (allegedly, for we don't know how strong his punches will be on boxing gloves)

That's about it. He has to use his advantages and try to KO him in the first rounds. If it goes beyond round 5... things will become increasingly impossible for Conor.

Mayweather will keep distance for the first round, then jab him into desperation and get the most points. If he gets caught in a bad angle, Mayweather can KO him too. When you catch someone in a bad angle doing the wrong movement, you don't need tremendous power to KO. Mayweather used to have it all when he was young, KO power too, not anymore, but again, he still can punch with enough power to KO someone if he's caught in the wrong moment

Conor is probably an Olympian level boxer at best, so he will make a lot of mistakes.

Guess who backed Pacquiao the last time around? Can't remember the odds and just couldn't resist. I know I'm probably going to bite down on this one but I see almost 7/1 odds for McGregor and that's too good to pass up, right? Marathon Bet's got that (and Betfair has a 1/6 on Mayweather...).
