ASRock Fatality Z97X Killer LGA 1150 board works with 6 cards on risers in Windows 10. Can only get 5 to show up in Windows 7 (Code 43 on the 6th). Set all three PCI-E x16 slots to GEN 1 in Bios. Haven't tried adding the M.2 slot PCI-E adapter yet.

You need enable "Above 4G" or lower TOLUD.

You need enable "Above 4G" or lower TOLUD.

The board Bios doesn't have that option. It's a limitation with Windows 7 that can't recognize more than 5 GPU's. There is a patch, but it won't boot in to Windows using the latest drivers.

The PRIME Z270-AR has 7 PCI-E slots. You need to add two M.2 to PCI-E expansion adapters to get 9 cards.
