the idea of a island is just that, an idea, something like that would have worked of there was a country sized pice of land that no one currently occupied, witch doesn't exist. (except Antarctica but that's crazy talk) having every transaction in bitcoin would be a bit nutty too, imagine getting a cup of coffee in the morning with the transaction fees and time needed. bitcoin in its current state is better suited as a investment commodity or large transaction currency. anything commonplace is bit cumbersome. i would be glad to see improvements in this area. as now with the volatility you would see things like in some countries where someone gets their paycheck on payday and tells the spouse to go spend it that day in fear of loosing value. there are still things to work out with the island idea.

Do you think if we create an initiative group for the legalization of bitcoin. To find uninhabited island, to announce the collection of funds for its acquisition. Everyone who contribute will receive a piece of this island. Based on the state of Bitcoin official currency of this state to make a bitcoin. Do you like this idea?
It will not happen, every single piece of land has an owner, and when a new piece of land emerges due to volcanic activity or something like that, a government will claim ownership of that land, so unfortunately it is not possible to do that at the moment.

Anyway that does not stop that somebody can buy an island or yes? The thing is maybe that you could not buy much on that island, perhaps the direct exchange of goods would give much better result on that island, but in any case there isn´t need to mix one thing with another, it's almost like saying legalize internet,
oh wait, was it ever oneday illegal? in any case could be try of "regulate" but depending on what or for whom,
only starting from there already represents a problem define it.

doesn't make sense , the legalization is done by a central authority and will help bitcoin getting more recognized or adopted, people also want to be controlled it seems...

Who cares if bitcoin is declared legal or not in your country? I'm not using bitcoins because my government said it's OK I'm using it because I can make my own decisions with my own money.

well if it's not legal you can't use it without trouble, it would hinder adoption, and no one will buy it locally for example, altought you can still use it on the web for purchasing stuff abroad, outside of your country

Let society do it works because as time pass by the bitcoin will be accepted by every country don't force it, it will happen automatically and step by step for now bitcoin is still gaining popularity so let's just wait for the future what will happen.

Legalized usage will bring more users into the community. But the same will affect several unique features that bitcoin has got, and importantly the system becomes centralized and because of this surely it will loss the value it gained to certain extent.

Every island out there is already controlled by a government, uninhabited or not - they will not allow you to just take over and build your own jurisdiction. You will still be subject to all the laws of the governing country, so cannot make your own laws. I think Sealand have gotten the closest to this idea, an offshore rig that offers hosting and other online services, along with "citizenship". If their closest neighbour wanted to take them over it could be done with ease.

Yes, there is true...even the remotest island and even those that may not be on the map yet are all claimed by a certain country. In fact, here in my region there are many countries vying for islands and they are so willing to die just to get even a very small one thinking that it can be a beacon of wealth within, under or just in its periphery.

Maybe what we can do is to colonize a planet...maybe in Mars there can be an abundance of real estate where Bitcoin can be an official currency without the interference of those in power. We are living in a greedy world where anything of value can worth of the fight that may ensued.

Soon even the very air we are breathing can be fought with blood and nails.

It seems that if bitcoin legality in a country can be realized there will be consequences of the government's enforced regulations on bitcoin, such as tax laws for example as well as security rules may be more assured if the government gives its legality to bitcoin.

In our country the bitcoin is now approved by the government. The bitcoin is now using in our daily payment. I feel happy about it because our life will become easier. I hope that in some country the bitcoin will approve by their government.

My first thought when I read the tittle, oh it may about how to support legalization of bitcoin in some countries. But lol, it's totally different compares to what Op mentioned above, to buy an island? You should change the title of your thread man.

There will be few people that might be interested, depends on the location of the island, idea to share it, how much it costs and for what purpose/benefits to collect bitcoin from many people to buy an island?
I won't invest obviously, the island may not so important for me in the future, except if the idea is really really good.

I like this idea, but I don't want the legalization of bitcoin. For me legalization will not change anything except that my government will be able to legally demand payment from me in taxes over transactions with bitcoin. I like the way it is.

It is an interesting idea, i do not deny that. But i do not think it is possible. That would mean making your own country which is hard, because even if you find an island to buy, that island would be part of some other country, and they would not agree with our new country making. But it is an interesting thing to think of. Cheesy

You don't buy the Island, you buy the Government.. To get a cheap Gov, looking for a island in economic distress but with not to much debt, put the hard sell on them by saying if do not do something some about you're island , America banks will take it over & rape you're resources.

They will should say yes after that i would imagine

Legalization of bitcoins would be a problem at this current stage now, since bitcoins has its weaknesses when it comes tobe being solid and having legalized by government which has a high regulations

The idea is a very good one but the issue of concern here is that we have all mortgaged our freedom to the institution called government. Because if we all agree that we want to have a property there, then how do we migrate considering the fact that leaving from a country to another involves owning a passport and to which country are we saying we are going to and how will government allow us leave out respective countries among other concerns.

I live in Ukraine and I am very pleased that the government starts to recognize the crypto currency and it seems that it is possible to use it without any problems and conduct financial transactions. The National Bank has already announced the possibility of creating its own crypto currency, while other commercial banks take upon themselves the right to sell and exchange bitcoins for different currencies.

I don't like these idea, it is just like you are saying that we need to be controlled by someone else. It is obvious to inhabit an island we need a leader, we need money to make that place work and that means we will live in the place where we use bitcoin and being taxed by the upper mans. Where is the freedom there? Where is the decentralization? Even the privacy is gone.

Bitcoin is now rising through its popularization in many states and nation. In that case of legalizing bitcoin, it may be depend upon the state because each state or nation have their own law and rules to follow. If the government see that bitcoin is a good way to lessen unemployed individuals, maybe they would accept to legalize it but with that matter when people learn that it will be easier to earn money in bitcoin than working physically, they would grab the opportunity on focusing in bitcoin and that will cause for the rise of unemployed men because they will retire and try up bitcoin.

Well said, bitcoin itself in this world have a big role and I think that is right no more changes need to be done because the bitcoin itself didn't make that king of idea because as soon as bitcoin gain more popularity many countries will going to adopt it as a mode of payment, So owning a new island is not a good idea.

BIG WINNER!

If many people start using the crypto currency, then for their more confidence, legal assistance will be needed. Because a lot will arise questions that are still incomprehensible to the beginner. And To avoid bad consequences, you must first understand how you can protect such a person before legalizing the crypto currency.
