To quote from that awesome film, The Crow;

"It can't rain all the time"

Give it time, we will be back on top again.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Sigh, bad luck coupled with payouts .25 to .5 of normal. How's the song go? Should I stay or should I go now?

I stayed even in the darkest luck days.

Love the error but expecting a recalculation.

Don't think the recalculation is coming. Check your shares and payout on 18309 compared to mine. WTF?

Be telling me about 18309.  Slush screwing over on 5+ hour block.  Not knowing why I stay...

Me too and my difficulty issues are still with me.

The proxy is reporting difficulty 2 and slush is configured as 1 so my reward got halved again.  There is probably a way to make them double, this is a nasty bug.

Well, whatever was adjusted with the latest updates on the 21st, broke some other things. I hope we can get some input from slush soon, he's usually very quick.

in all fairness (although btc guild is rock stable, but over populated), almost every pool seems to have poor luck and issues ATM (luck is not an issue, but certainly "a cherry over the top'' when things go wrong). Staying here for the only being stratum + name coin (as far as I know). Plus, I kinda like supporting the guy who actually pretty much invented pools and stratum (I'm sure I'll get corrected on this one, but its still my feeling)

Does discriminating against mining certain low tx-fee transfers have a negative pool effect on the rate the miner/pool solves blocks?

god damn, good thing I made put a parentheses on that one huh?

What it meant is if things go wrong on a day with 50% pool luck and 1 bad payment people will be more upset than on a day with 150% pool luck and 1 bad payment.

Eck, would you even have pool hopped today if despite the error the pool was at 150%? I would bet no.

Oh, I agree. I'm pretty loyal to good pool ops, and at no point do I think negatively of slush whatsoever. But I think a lot of us would still like some input over things he might be seeing that we can't. If there is an issue, other than api2.bitcoin.cz giving users issues, and if the issues will be resolved/or fully redirected to stratum.

I have no idea what you're getting at. My question wasn't directed at anyone specific, just a valid question seeking an answer(as well as being completely unrelated to the pool luck dip in the last few days).

Somebody please tell me that the Graphs page on the site is broke. I'm dieing here. heh. the increase in hashing power the pool has seen has pretty much maintained the number of blocks that the pool has been getting each day. but according to the graph i'm getting half the btcs i was 5 days ago. i would expect this if the hashing power had doubled, but not for about a 10% rise. hmmm. where's Lucko when i need him? heheheh.
Sleeping, working... If this was not a joke and you would really like my input here it is. The reword has also a luck factor. Last seven days the luck was 83%. So this is where 17% of your reword has gone. Then it was a difficulty increase by 16%(not complicity sure), so you get even less. 0,83*0,84=0,6972. So that explain 30% less. There were also some lost blocks so that probably adds some percentage(I know that one day they reduce reword by 10%)... And calculation error or two Smiley and you are there. The whole hashrate of the pool is not an issue. Even if it would 10x more the reword for a day, week, year would still be the same... Only number of block would change and amount you get per block. The only think you are looking at are luck, difficulty and invalids (if there are no errors).

I got 2.5 x normal reward fot 18309. (Not bragging, just pointing out that it looks to me, the 'missing' coins go to a few lucky pool miners and not to slush).

I've had plenty of rounds where I have been the one who was 'missing' coins.

That was never the question. When reset accusers some workers don't get reseted. I guess it has something to do with time the share is submitted and calculated during reset... And since worker has hi score you get more on that round. Depends how long from reset round ends...

I guess so, but there's still 30 confirmations to go. I've seen these things correct themselves at the last minute. If slush pops on and sees it he will recalcuate it no doubt.

My "personal luck" for 7 days is at 78% atm (7 days moving avg from graphs / estimated reward from mining profitability calculator).
pools 7 day is at 84% atm. so considering stales, downtimes (adding/cleaning fans, changed lan wires to wireless usb, etc)  and other anomalies, I think the pools is working as it should (atleast for me).
I also had my share of missing/big payouts from certain blocks, but in 7 days it seems to even out quite nicely.

best way to mitigate variance / bad luck is to spread you hasspeed across multiple pools at once. like 3-4 pools at least

And that's exactly what i am doing and have suggested several pages ago.

EDIT: I like the number 3, so this was a natural choice for me.
