I have 2 xia-class miners (machine detail: http://www.lketc.com/engoods/show/252.aspx), each works at 1000GH/s and present to their pool worker by mining_proxy, and the mining_proxy shows normal diff 1880. My Internet connection is 1xEV-DO, which redials every 3 hours. Thus, every time redial, the diff will reset to 8, then increase to about 1800 slowly. Before diff increase to 1800, pool shows my hashrate lowly. If Slush pool find a block in a short time, I'll get a very poor income.
So, problem 1: I want to fix my diff at 1024 or higher, is it feasible? and how?
and problem 2: Is the normal diff 1880 be sent to every xia-class completely, or half? even if I have 3 xia-class, diff will be sent one third to everyone?

Could you explain the internet connection redial situation? How long does the disconnect/reconnect take? This pool has vardiff and its problably acting like you are pool hopping from what you are describing about your hash rate staying low after the redial situation. I would start with getting stable internet and then either get better mining software or look at some Dragon miner(I'm assuming since you have to adjust difficulty yourself) threads to see what they are set at. I remember some saying either 1024 or 512 depending on machine.

IPS will disconnect all 1xEV-DO device that is online continue 3 hours, reconnect by win7's dial-up internet. The disconnect/reconnect takes about 5s.

Could you explain the detail of vardiff?

I set diff at 1024 in machine software, but mining_proxy also shows diff 1880. Mining in btcguild, mining_proxy will show 1024, of couse, I set pool worker diff at 1024. So, xia-class can mine fully in btcguild. But I still like slush pool more. Smiley

If you are talking about a mifi type device, look someware under power menu and select none. This should prevent the restarts.

You do not need a proxy to run these. Why you run em through proxy?

You have to put 256 diff at miners settings page, in order to make Slushs vardiff work properly.

256 is the real vardiff option, any other setting is forced diff, which slush does not support. Lot of pools actually.

not mifi, it's Huawei EC169, and any other model device will be disconnected by IPS in 3 hours(I think IPS needs IP address or save my internet traffic).

because by mining_proxy, it will cost lower kb, I pay my internet by kb.

$20 a year, not bad at all Smiley

Just put 256 in miners settings, vardiff will work.

OK I argued for not panicking about the bad pool luck but now its time to move along, because maybe it is something else after all. Can't hang around for days waiting to see if and what it might be. I'll be back!

A quick question to Slush's.  I am thinking of giving up mining against your pool.  Nothing personal, just with only 2Ghz, it's never really going to be worth the hassle.  I have 0.00308557 BTC reward in my account.  Any way I can get it out?  I would like to have something to show for my time and effort.

Thanks.

Shaun

.003 isn't really worth a lot so don't expect a reply. The best you could do is to give your account to someone to mine it up to .02 so it can be withdrawn, then hope they send you the .003.

BREAK THE MOJO DEAL

I have a great record for getting slush out of a rut!
I'm 3 out of the last 3:
Last time I moved my miners away, slush pool found 9 blocks the following day
Time before that when I moved my miners away, slush pool found 10 blocks following day
Time before that when I moved my miners away, slush pool found 9 blocks following day

Anybody willing to pay for this service if I can again deliver 8+ blocks per day?

For 0.05% of profits from daily blocks above 8, 9, and 10 I'll move! Cheap!

No payment if slush makes fewer than 8 blocks in one UTC day or for blocks beyond number 10.

Hot time, summer in the city, back of my mine getting hot & gritty!!!

.01 is the min payout - but you might get some luck from slush by raising a ticket on his facebook page. It's unlikely he will respond here.

Thing is you really do not know when something is just bad luck or not....! When there is a fire burning under my butt I do get up at some point and move away, you prefer to keep sitting thats your choice ;-)

anywho, I pointed some of my hash power over to ghash.io yesterday and have been getting steady payouts. not to say i won't go back to slush soon. it's all good fun in the end.

About the best you can do is to spread your hashing power with 2,3 or 4 pools to reduce your risks associated with variance.

If you like Slush's pool or any other one that is great, but to just mine one pool is not the smartest thing to do. This is especially true when it comes to smaller pools!

If you are to small to diversify, then you need to go with a large pool.

Small pools when they get to small have no choice but to somehow increase their has rate or shut down.

I remember give-me-coins.com shut down the "BitCoin" mining pool they were running as it was just to small.

I use to mine litecoin and feathercoin with them. A very nice smaller pool.

The problem is they start a pool, and most stop development. They don't really want to put any more money or time into development.

Some people don't like GHash.io because they are so large, but I feel the reason they are so large is because they have a great platform. I am confident that they have put in extreme amounts of cash and labor and it shows.

Hard work pays off.

I know Slush could have just as good a platform if he tried, but I have not seen anything change here really. (In a very, very long time.)

How much more do you think a pool could make if they went from 5 to 35 petahash and stayed at 2% fees. I bet they make a lot more :-)

I use GHash.IO sometimes too but it makes me feel guilty. Not sure why, but feels like I'm helping to feed a monster.
