"IF ethereum dies..." I'd be genuinely surprised Smiley. There are wast amounts of money and corporate/banker support behind it. They also have a big developer community and plenty of investors. As these folks don't want to loose a lot of money they will do everything what they can to keep it running. So I doubt that ETH will suddenly die overnight. If it ever will then that will be a long process and probably because of one or more more capable competing coins.

I think that ETH has too much momentum to die any time soon. But since much of its recent price increase was fueled by ICO's, there could be a major price correction if or when the SEC decides to regulate ICO's in the future. Bitcoin wouldn't be affected as strongly, of course, since it's not known as an ICO crowdfunding platform.

We listen the same story every time when coin market downs. This is really not making any sense. Please hold your emotion and think with your brain. Ethereum never dies, it can lose some value which is very normal. Remember it came here from $40 in 3 month.

ETH has some major issues to resolve, if it can... scalability being the primary of both BTC and ETH.  The next is ETH  blockchain bloat in a little over 1 year it is already almost the same size as BTC if not even bigger, and BTC has been running since what 2009 or 8 years.  How big will ETH database be in 8 years from now.... if ETH has scalability issues already...  Huh

BTC is the store of wealth (gold) and I do not see ETH as a currency (silver) or for that matter any of the other 800+ altcoins that have been created.  Until Joe and Jan Public can use the altcoins/cryptocurrency directly from there leather wallets with plastic debit cards you will not see mass adoption by the general public.  Thus the altcoin currency (silver) is yet to be determined.

Yes, direct access to the currency wallet from a point of sale terminal debit card is in the wings... called RadixDLT (Distributed Ledger Technology). It will be the silver to the bitcoin gold.

Rootstock is supposed to be backwards compatible with ethereum so ethereum projects could switch to RSK without major problems. At least that's what's promised.

But at what point of development is Rootstock? They seem to be stuck for a long time now.

Smarter Contracts: "Quietly Making Noise"

it is not a question of IF it is a question of when people realize Ethereum is not the best option for smart contracts out there. and it doesn't have to fail as in fall to zero for them to realize this. it is all about efficiency, how well it is performed and how cheap or expensive the whole process is both in money and time that it takes.

right now there is RSK (Rootstock) which will work on bitcoin blockchain (the most trusted and secure and well known blockchain) and it will be practically free to make a smart contract using it.

Just dropped everything and spent over 25 minutes looking into RSK (Rootstock), thank you.

If ethereum will dies many people cant beleive of it. As you know it has come along way for many years, many people invest in Ethereum. Price becomes pump and dumped but I think it will continously increase any moment.

One thing I learned from cryptos is that development always takes longer than promised. Apparently there's sth called Hofstadter's law.

If you bought at the top, you may be angry, I understand.
But if that happened, do not panic and just hold.  You will eventually get a high return after a while.  This is the market, this is crypto

just because it dump way too low, it will die already. That's correct if you buy your coin at high price and price gets too low, you will get angry, that's understandable - everybody understand that that's the feeling and expression of losing your temper. It is not going to die anyway.

most of the ico was developed based on the platform of smart contracts from ETH. I will not say that ETH will die but said ETH will usurpation of BTC and I am confident that in the future the ICO use ETH technology platforms are great

It depends what you mean by die. If uptake slows and as stated in this thread projects migrate to other block chains then there will be become a point where it would make no sense to continue development.

The question is what is the next platform to replace it? Rootstock is mooted but it looks to be far from ready to replace Ethereum

Okay you want to imagine this. If Ethereum dead with its smart contract platform, then obviously people will find the next platform with similar technology and have its own blockchain. I think waves platform can replace the Ethereum place. Waves have everything that eth have.
