Yes, It is really upon the outcome of the Segwit2x activation that is why we are having a difficult rise to $3000 in the last couple of months. Well, it breached $3000 momentarily until it crashes. You can't blame investors as well for not putting cash into the ecosystem. They are greedy person and they want to make sure that they will profit so its gonna be a standstill and a long waiting game. But once they saw that the activation brings positive result to the market, Expect a rush of cash flow. We may see another ETH and the elusive $3000 will be breach and even surpass. We just need a lot patience.

It touched that level some time last month or May, I am not sure but it did reached 3003 in bitfinex. And in bitstamp is was 2980$. Why op did not sell that time? But do not worry op, there will be another chance. Maybe even higher than 3K when everything settles after August 1.

Not only him missed the chance of selling but even I, I forgot to sell by that time because I thought that increase was positive and it will take longer but I was wrong. And today I learned that I don't have to speculate more because it is going to put me in regret again if I miss another positive wave.

If you have been willing to wait, I'm sure you still can be willing to wait for another month or two to reach the value you want, fluctuations continue and if you wait until 1 or 2 months I'm sure bitcoin will continue to increase to $3000. But if you can not wait any longer, I think the price now at $2500 is also good enough and there's nothing wrong if you sell it now.

Yes, why can't you wait a little longer? I'm confident that it can be touch but because of many factors it will probably takes months or so before touching it. I see that the price is currently in red again so I we need to wait a more. And I'm sure many will dump their coins once they see that the price has hit $3000. Its a mental barrier for some.

Bitcoin prices can change very quickly. The price movement of bitcoin can not be controlled, positive movement of course can make bitcoin price increase very high. While negative movements can make us panic when the price drops dramatically. The bitcoin price could reach 3000 $ in a short time. Yes you are right that time is not to sell your bitcoin because its price will soon hit $3000 and I think its time is to buy more bitcoin, hold to till $3000 and if its price will hit to $3000 then if you sell or more hold, but still now didn't sell btc, yes its also my personally opinion that after segwit its price will low for short time but after its price will start to going to increase and then enjoy its price.

Bitcoin has already hit 3000$ not so long time ago. It didn't keep that price too long and droped back below but this isn't some magic number that couldn't be reached easily. And I don't think we have to wait next year to see that price again, it could happen much sooner and even go above that price.

I wish I go back to this topic in 2020 when bitcoin will be traded for more than $10000 and laugh at our current theories.
At this point bitcoin price crossing $3000 is more than certain, just wait for SegWit to go live.

It is not a lean period at all. Far from it, the price has more than doubled in value this year. Surely you don't expect it to keep rising unabated? This is a consolidation period, no major drama, the current rate is fantastic for bitcoin. I don't know why the Op needs to sell at $3000. could it be he bought over $2500?

I think even the 1st August is not effecting the price of bitcoin. and I think even the price is becoming more stable as soon as the 1st August is approaching. therefore i think there are more chances that the  price  of bitcoin will  reach to 3000$ even before the 1st August. and hopeful that after that bitcoin price will become sky rocket
