As far as my understanding is correct since Im still new to bitcoin world, even with a chain split, there is still bitcoin. And for the price, it depends whether in what chain majority will support. Still bitcoin isn't ended but just divided. Furthermore, price increase is still possible.
Don't just read the result but rather read the inside stuff of what will really happen after August 1.

Based on my own reading and research on this very important matter, for sure this will not be the end for Bitcoin and in fact this act is done to make Bitcoin more agile and efficient so that it can handle more transactions which hopefully can unclog the backlogs of transactions in the blockchain. There is no debate that there is a big problem in Bitcoin and what is being debated until now is the correct solutions or solutions for the problem of scaling.
Now, the worst that can happen will be the split almost similar to what happened to Ethereum that resulted into the Classic Ethereum or ETC and the more popular ETH. In case there would be a split then maybe we can be receiving two types of Bitcoin by then but this can of course affect the value of the coin most especially immediately after the event.
However, I still believe that there would be no split and if there is then it will not be bloody as feared by many. The bigger interest of the common people holding Bitcoin should prevail.
Update: The possibility of a split is now getting to be remote as confirmed by many Bitcoin news site.

Might be there will be two chains after segwit2x get activated on august but that might not trigger big dump, there may be some panic among newbie traders after split. Bitcoin will never end. We have to wait till the activation of segwit2x to find out whether there will be split of network or not. |

No Bitcoin will not end, it may just end up splitting if it does or nothing will happen and Bitcoin will continue as it is. If it splits then there will be two Bitcoins on two chains, price will definitely be effected, panic mode will be triggered, oh and most importantly protect your coins, shift them to a wallet that gives you keys. The wallet topic is active here search for it. And don't worry we all will be going through same thing so let's enjoy till we can. |

What is matter about bitcoin is supply and demand. After August 1 or even few days before, there will be some investors panic, want to sell their bitcoins and it will cause high supply and after few days everything will be normal. With solving some problems such as transaction times, People will also sell their altcoins and buy bitcoins. As a result bitcoin will be more valuable than it is today. There is no reason for ending bitcoin however there will be some important changes. The best we can is wait for the coming days. However There is one thing clear. Bitcoin will never end. Bitcoin is future currency.

If the update is a success even if the network split, this will end the long agonizing debate between factions about bitcoin scaling. Aside from that it will definitely an end to bitcoin high transaction fee. It will be the end of cheap Bitcoin, I can see it soaring in price because of the fixed on the scalability issue, whatever happen a split or not bitcoin will continue to thrive simply because those who invest millions to billions of dollars in it won't let it happen. |

In my opinion bitcoin is currently progressing so rapidly and it seems like bitcoin is unlikely to end in such a short span of time.
And with growth of some new investors who invest in bitcoin this will certainly affect the progress of bitcoin in the future.

That is segwit on August 1 right ? I though it's a good thing for bitcoin, it can increases the Bitcoin’s block size limit and i think it will affect the price of bitcoin become more higher. I'm sure bitcoin will not end, maybe it bring a good news to all bitcoin user. |

Yes i hope so, the activation of segwit on bitcoins network will not be bad impact on bitcoins its self but it will be best choice and solution to fix the problem on bitcoins network, the comunity of bitcoins never become two side because of the activation of segwit and the price of bitcoins to the moon. |
